EXCELLENT point. You can be legal, but if your hypothesis is correct "legal" would not mean "sane".

Why?

Knowing Mesa, the plane probably had the exact minimum of fuel on board..with not a drop more than 45 minutes reserve.

And if they didn't wake up they would've gone on last heading to oblivion...

byebye pilots, sucky situation that i hope no one is in again, i wish them the best in their future...everyone wake up and smell the roses, LEAVE MESA PLEASE

That time zone thingy can be a real pain at times
As for their future i do not think they will be flying any time soon ,kind of a killer to be fired for sleeping but then again how does one explain that on ones resume?
