Well said...I couldnt agree more.

I DO hope you realize that the 51 planes CAL is going to pull will be the 135's and 145 EP's. CAL will not make the same mistake last time of letting the XR's go.

Good luck finding ANY home's for 135's.....NO ONE wants those...PERIOD (i.e Delta CHQ 135's)

From what I understand they tried to pull that one last time....and lost. HA. Who knows that is going to happen, I think the SKYW buyout is all but a done deal.

At ASA we thought a lot of SkyWest being a good company and had goodwill. Think again. You are correct in saying they will not come after you. That would cost them money. They will simply take all your expansion opportunities for themselves and when they got that covered they will slowly transfer your flying to themselves to keep growing, providing fast upgrades, and keeping their pilots happy. There are many Delta 4XXX flight numbers being operated by SkyWest. The significance is 4XXX numbers are ASA's. If SkyWest is successful in aquiring you, the only upward seniority movement you will see is attrition they are not ready to absorb and rebrand as SkyWest flying. Stay independent. Fly safe. Keep XJT the company you enjoy working for.

From a been there and seen it.

yes, but from my understanding, if airplanes are moved across company lines, the pilots have to go with them.

That is the scope that we are talking about...the parts of OUR contract SKYW wants to be removed. This is one of the cards we hold, and something that we can use as leverage to get some of what we need. This might just come down to labor, part of me hopes it does. If we do cave, my fear is we will be pinned in COEX flying and never grow into new lines of business (DAL, Charter, Branded). I dont see this helping QOL, IAH, EWR, and CLE oh my! I think that the MEC will stand up on this one....Regardless of others experiences with ALPA, we have a very good and confident MEC.

We can only wish that ALPA had some more of the XJT MEC mentality in the upper ranks. It doesn't hurt that our management isn't anti-pilot, either.

XJT's MEC and other ALPA members have been nothing but stand up guys/gals. I have confidence in them through this turbulence and against the strong hands of CALner and SKYW$$$.

That's the problem for CAL though. We won't take the 135's and 145 EP's. CAL can keep them. Problem is, now CAL has to give them to someone else, which would cause that regional feed a nightmare with fuel. This is why Kellner is angry at our management. When Ream took the best planes, CAL was caught with its pants down. As long as CAL wants to take away the best, fuel efficient, 50-seaters they have, we will keep taking them and just throw them into another 50-seat market. If they want the worst 50-seaters, CAL can have them. If they keep them with us, oh well we don't pay for the fuel on them, CAL does.

Another thing to note is that once CAL drops us below 50% of their regional feed, XJT can increase their CPA's with other airlines to above 10 airplanes. This is why only 10 aircraft in LAX with Delta are in a CPA. This is in the CPA with CAL. Also, if CAL drops us below 50% we can also start flying into their hubs. We have a card in this game too, and trust me our management has and is using it.

Yep....people never give them enough credit. You have to give credit to Ream and Co. They have done a very good job keeping those planes (69) flying and producing new lines of business. All things worth fighting for.

I don't think anywhere, including the CPA that SKW has potentially with CAL (noone knows for sure) it says removal of the 51 aircraft, I believe that removal of the 51 aircraft is if we stay independent
yes you are right. i was thinking 4 crews per plane, but forgot that a crew is 2 people, so that would be more like 400-500 pilots.

I truly feel for all of you and I wish you the best of luck. This industry is harsh.

maybe you guys arent getting my point. no one knows what the skywest cpa is. you are all right that if skywest makes the purchase the NEW cpa would over ride the current one with xjt. what i am saying is that the big savings skywest has promised may just be infact getting rid of the 51 planes. THAT may be in the new cpa. that may save cal 10's of millions of dollars. that may help cal lean out their regional.
