LOSER

When you grow up, try moving out of your parent's place and making a living. That's how the rest of the world does it.

I make more working 4 days a month as a nurse than I do first year FO pay at a major. It's definitely a nice side gig.

I supplement my income by robbing liquor stores. This job requires no education. There is no interview process or medical evaluations. You set your own hours, and pay is generally about $100.00 per minute! The best benefit of all is that you can grab a bottle of Jack Daniels as you run out the door. This can be used later to numb the pain of being a pilot.

Ok, seriously, this race to the bottom is really starting to p*** me off Please, someone tell me how we as pilots can stop this insanity.

Write to your congress and tell them you want to abolish Airline Deregulation Legislation Act 1978. It has created an environment where airlines are killing each other and themselves in an attempt to weed out those who can't bank roll over time. And labor is paying for it.

(I probably opened up a huge can of worms by making this statement, but let the good times roll!)

No, I'm good. I've got a side business that more than pays for rent every month. It just ****es me off to see people having to live at home to "make it" as a professional pilot. If there were less of your type around, I'm convinced wages would go up. We're professionals. Professionals don't live at home with their 'rents.

Have you ever lived away from home? College? Didn't that freedom taste good? Even if I wanted to go back for financial reasons, I couldn't bring myself to do it. Once I got a taste of the freedom, I just can't go back!

Who do you fly for? Eagle?

P.S. I'm 24, not much older than yourself. For the love of god, do yourself and your girlfriend a favor and MOVE OUT!

Ummmm.....I need an answer that has a chance of sucess. As soon as I marry Natalie Portman, I will get right on congress about that. I once heard there was this thing called a Union (I think). They represented the workers and kept management in line. Whatever happened to those guys? Are there any union rep's on this site? Can't the union figure something out here? Let's see what happens first. Does a union rep answer this thread, or does Beagle grow up and move out of his parents basement? I give 2 to 1 odds.

Answer; Lower your expectations. Aviation might provide you a slim living but not a life.

HS, KilowAlpha, your plan is so obvious I never thought of it. I've been out of the business for a few years and considering coming back, but my next logical step would be regionals (but I've grown accustomed to luxuries like food and heat.) A planned re-entry using your strategy might actually work... that, and getting current again.
