Best Western. It is about 100 yards from the training building. There is not much to do in Manassas, trust me I live 2 miles Colgan, if anyone has a car go try out Fairfax 15 minutes away of go 15 more minutes and visit DC! Not saying that you will have all that much time though, I think training is 6 days a week.

There is not much to do but it is not all that bad. For a boring guy like myself it had what you needed with 3 restaurants within walking distance as well as a handful of fast food joints. There is a walmart across the street (i lived in PB&J and Ramen because I am cheap) and there is a mall a very short drive away. We went to the air and space museum one saturday as well which was maybe a 15 minute drive or so. The best western has free breakfast which is on par with your average low end hotel chain but it is a hot breakfast and certainly did the job. On Mondays I believe they also have a buffet style dinner maybe with a main course and a few other odds and ends. The attached bar Addys has probably one of the cheapest happy hours going. I dont know the cost but I would hang for a few hours before studying and leave with a 9 dollar bill.

I just got an email saying if I wanted to interview for the q or the swedish blender. Kind of surprsing since I can't even remember when I applied on airlineapps. Looks like they need pilots. That Q is a sweet looking airplane though wouldn't mind flying that.

Anyone know the breakdown on the training schedule. They mentioned 6 weeks, is that including IOE? Any breaks in between? How long can we expect to be in VA?

Also do they let you use your flight benefits during training to make a trip home or is it just a straight 6 weeks away from home? I'm sure my wife could use the break anyhow

Thanks for the help. I'm still waiting for my training package.

For us it was 2 weeks for indoc, 4 weeks at flight safety and than a 3 day trip for IOE.

I had LARGE breaks in between. I had 7 days off after indoc because of thanksgiving and then took my checkride on Dec 20th and flew my first IOE flight on the 4th of Feb. From others I have talked to it is more or less straight through with the only possible break just being between your checkride and when IOE starts and that is up to the needs of the man.

You will NOT get any travel benefits during training. From what I understand though although you will not be CASS you still may be able to jumpseat in the back but I dont even think CJC puts you in the system until after IOE so the gate agents wont even be able to find you and it will be more trouble than it is worth.
