Eagle Pilots Jumpseating on Mainline

it's something like a 30 dollar charge to get off the island to either miami or dallas, then 11 bucks to pheonix. Each leg in the states costs about 11 bucks. Getting to dallas is prefered but all the flights are so oversold as is and more flights will be getting the ax. On a side note it seems harder getting back to sju because of the 3 hour jump ahead in time and so many more senior guys live in florida but fly in sju.

someone stated it already but AVOID AMERICAN at all costs when your trying to get to work and for god sakes move to miami or somwhere you can more easily commute from. Sometimes you can get a cool agent to give you the 1W when there are seats in the back but most times they either wont or cant. I also am a PHX commuter but only to Ohare where theres something like 15 direct flights aday. I rarely if ever take American unless I need it to be my first flight in order to cover me on the commuter cluase of the contract. I cant imagine doing what your doing. OUCH!

I commuted from BOS to SJU for a year and 80% of the time got business class with a 1-W in hand. I only had to ride the actual JS a handful of times. I became a usual commuter, but it all depends on the gate agents. Most in BOS were very accommodating, then the CA said take a seat in the back! See ya!

I use AA as an offline commuter all the time and never have a problem...Do they screw you eagle guys? Am I missing something? Funny that I fly for a UAX carrier and avoid UAL commutes at all cost and prefer using AA...

it should only be the 11 bucks per destination. Not per leg. Conscr the pay dept. and they will refund the middle fees. Whether I go dfw-ord or dfw-stl-ord it will only be 11 bucks. That should save some cash.

If AA put as much effort into actually operating their airline as they did into SCREWING as many people as possible, they'd make at least 10x more money...
Fri I was (again) bumped off an AA flight that had FORTY (40) open seats only because another pilot from a "limited" carrier (or whatever the hell they call it) was already on board. Heck a few weeks ago they denied a FedEx guy (!) because I was on board! Of course my airline (and many others, including FDX) will take as many almighty AA pilots as we have room, but they refuse to extend the same courtesy to us. The jumpseat chairmen can get nothing done about it either, it has already been brought up many, many times in the past...

I can't count how many times I've been told by gate agents that they *CAN'T* give me the jumpseat if there are available seats in the airplane.
I get this maybe 60% of the time. Most of the others just hand me the boarding pass for the jumpseat.
My problem is that I live in Arizona and work in Puerto Rico - and since us under 2 year guys and gals get charged for non-revving - I can't afford that lovely $80 round trip charge 3 or 4 times a month just to see my wife.
My question is this: Is there any validity to them not being able to give anybody the jumpseat with seats available in the aircraft? And if not, where can I find the rule so I can use it to get home for free?
Thanks!

Bottom line, avoid AA. The crews are cool enough, the commuter policy sucks though.
Oh, and try to find a girl friend in SJU just to take the edge off

Its just wierd becuase yesterday I flew first class PHX to ORD on US Airways for FREE but I would have had to pay $13 for coach on my own airline!

i've been jumping on the mainline a lot lately and i hate that policy. most of the time the flights were full and they stuffed me in the jump seat. I've been Usair a lot lately though. I'm finding their flights aren't overbooked and I always get a seat in the cabin.

Trying to get outta EWR the other day the gate agent told me I had to have an actual paper ticket to get a seat (despite the fact that he was holding my boarding pass). Ok, no problem...I'll JS instead of Non-rev.
Nope.
Told me that I WASN'T ALLOWED to jumpseat on a flight MY company was working without a ticket. Unbelievable.
I don't mind flying the American stuff...but I'll be damned if I ever try to ride on them again. Every time it's been a PITA. SWA treats freeloaders better than anyone so I'm sticking with them.
