Great Lakes Airlines?

If you have the time now, apply. Why wait 2 years before applying, thats two years of senority that you lose. And in two years you may see the requirements much higher to get one of these jobs than it is now. Right place right time sorta thing.
When I was in PPL trainning my instructors had +5000 hrs because no one was hiring. Hiring mins started dropping when I started instructing two years ago. Just the last year the hiring mins have dropped drastically, allbeit to lows that I dont think are a good idea, but the airlines were desperate. Now they are not so.

So what is the chance of getting hired at Great Lakes????

Pretty good. Trainnig is tuff, much like a fire hose for indoc and AC systems. Sim and flight trainning is where the majority washes out due to poor instrument skills and flows.
New class just started early August, something like 30 people.

Have an interview coming up with Lakes in September. I live in Austin but would like to commute. Can anyone tell me if the schedule is commutable? What is the typical work day/month like? Flew for Mesa for two years before leaving the industry prior to upgrade. Trying to get back in the game with the quickest PIC opportunity but have a business now so need to commute. Appreciate the help..

There have been a few who commuted out of Austin so it shouldn't be a problem. Most trips are 3-5 days with pairings starting around 9am and ending around 5:30.

Thanks for the response. Sounds like it might be a commutable schedule. How about days off? Are there many reserve lines? Days off increase with seniority of course? Hear they are looking for off the street captains? My interview is at the Red Lion Hotel and I hear they are bringing the sim into the interview process. Is this a possibility for interviews at the hotel? Trying to get as prepared as possible. I think Great Lakes will be a great place to sit tight for a while...just wish they would bring back phx. Thanks!

Well GOjet isn't paying below poverty wages and hurting the industry. Steak pilot was very passionate about pilots raising the bar in the closed GJ thread. A lakes guy who earns as much as a Mcdonalds worker was lecturing about an airline that pays 5 times more. That's all I'm gonna say.
