Wow! It's a disgrace to come on here and see how our pilot group is trashing the training department. We have certain standards that we follow and have been sticking to them for over the past years. We take pride in weeding the weak out of our AQP program. Yes we hire low time guys, but we will not bend or go the extra mile to help the young and weak. This is the big league boys. Sink or swim in Piedmont Training. We take pride in it.

But lets start talking about the positives the company has to offer here. The great captains who share an immense amount of experience and knowledge, HHH overnights, etc. A lot of people are happy with this company and its a shame to see others share differently.

Let me first say I have never had any issues with anyone in the training department to date, I've always enjoyed the time spent in training. I was taken back when you said "we will not go the extra mile". As a flight instructor my self going the extra mile was my j.o.b. and I know you don't speak for all of the instructors in the training department cause I know many will go the extra mile to help a pilot or new hire. We go to training every year not eval.

Maybe I should of worded it different but come on!! There is too much "spoon feeding" going on in this industry and its time to bring it back "old school". Take pride in your work and give 110% in training and on the line. There are thousands of pilots waiting in line to be in our pilots shoes.

So there definitely seems to be some different info floating around on this.. but i talked to Stan the other day and he said the new test was not negotiated as part of that new training contract section... and he was really fired up that people are blaming him. And Randy definitely didn't have anything at all to do with it either. A ground school teacher we all know and like told us point blank that the training department decided to change the test format because everyone scored like 98% on the old test, but when questioned orally or faced with systems problems in the sim, didn't show near that level of knowledge. In other words (and this is why we all liked the old test), people were just memorizing answers without necessarily understanding the material. I know I know, what a shame that we, as professional pilots, should have to understand the stuff in our books or at least know where to look it up. The old test was definitely the easy/lazy way, and the new test is slightly harder (although everyone in my cq class passed first try).... suck it up and invest a little effort in learning more about your profession.

As far as the whole "the union sucks" crew out there... remember "the union" is the guys you fly with every day. If you think they suck so bad why don't you walk up to them and say it in person instead of putting it online from behind your keyboard. You say your opinion isn't heard.. well i don't think they troll the message boards looking for our opinions either. You want your voice heard actually talk to the union VOLUNTEERS .. they fly the line and have email and telephones! Better yet why don't you take a position on a committee or as a base rep.. then you will really be in the loop. Or you can just sit at home and complain without doing anything at all to help the situation... let me know how that's working out for you. Why do you think our management walks all over us? It's because we have so many lazy/uninvolved pilots sitting at home complaining but refusing to help the cause. The handful of volunteers are trying to make things better here, but are getting very little help from much of the pilot group. Do your part, then you earn the right to complain.

hmm someone needs to practice what they preach. Management does not walk all over you. In fact they work very hard to give Piedmont a better reputation than what others are saying. Remember one thing....There are thousands of pilots waiting in line

You won't go the extra mile? Let me get this straight. Training is there to illustrate we are proficient right? It's also for us to LEARN! Sometimes u as instructors may have to go the extra mile so we understand. U dont want robots, I've heard that come out of Pfeiflly's mouth numerous times so if u need to help us go the extra mile than do it. That Is the most aarogant and ignorant post I've ever read. I myself haven't had any problems in training but to read something like that infuriates me, u make it sound like the training department will not help u succeed
