Not 10+ year captains....10+ captains that are moving on. As in the number who have offers from other airlines including one to Alaska (which is a major). At least with them moving on it allows others the chance to upgrade while they can get some jet time for someone better like southwest. Are you just sore because you would have been a captain now and it makes you feel better about justifing your decision to leave? It was a gamble to stay, believe me I wanted to go somewhere else but I am hoping that it will pay off seeing as I am not too far from upgrade. At the regionals, it is all about the upgrade and not accepting a 6-8 year upgrade in a RJ/ERJ because it is a jet and pay $40/hour. Many people loss sight of that when they start getting tied down with kids and a morgage. I am willing to fly my ass off and upgrade ASAP while living like crap so I can get a better job, not just a better job at another regional like Republic.

Hey, I dont work at Republic, if you dont know, dont just start guessing! Also, enjoy your upgrade over there, your going to love being on reserve forever as a captain, or maybe you will be able to make a quick exit to a "major", lets all hope things start do moving. With the stagnation your airline has, being on reserve as a Captain is just as bad as a jail sentence as reserve work rules in the outdated contract dont exist, so have fun with your upgrade, good luck, and have fun being on reserve forever

Dashtrash300 you are right and hom you couldn't be any more wrong and negative. Being a captain comes with great responsibility including being in command of your ship and advancing career oppurtunities. We hire captains, we dont hire people who want to be right seaters for life because they miss there girlfriends back at home.

At this company, reserve Captain is only a means to an end. Yes, it is a huge responsibility, not to be taken lightly, but friends, family, and life outside of work is infinitely more important than being abused on reserve as a Captain. If anyone thinks its better than senior FO, they have their priorities bordering insanity.

Please. Are you seriously trying to say that Piedmont hires future "Captains" with 300 hrs, and 15 multi? Piedmont hires whatever they can get, and whoever they can push through training. They try to hire people who they can push around and will accept flying an un-airworthy aircraft, as opposed true Captains who will refuse the aircraft risking disciplinary action. Anyone who thinks reserve captain is better than senior FO any day, is on an unrecoverable ego trip.
