Hom307 could not be anymore right. Also those lucky ones that were let go in training, many of them are finding employment elsewhere in the regional market and passing there training.

FYI the majority of the requests are for Captains....10+ Captains moving onto majors...wake up call? Maybe a wake up call to get your 3000 hours so you can upgrade. They are going to be running out of people to upgrade by the end of next year.

By the end of next year? Is that before or after they start sending airplanes to the scrap yard?

I figured at some point PDT would end up hiring street captains. Would be pretty sad if it did happen.....

Yeah dashtrash, Jetblue and Virgin America are majors, ha! face it, they are just "another regional". If by major, you mean Southwest, American, Delta, and Unical, they aren't hiring, oh and I hate to bust everyones bubble but flying a 190 for Us Airways is not flying for a major, because if it is, then why is Republic flying them? The only thing i can think of that you believe is a "major", seems to be any airline that flies something bigger than a 37-50 seater, what a jokester. Don't get me wrong, I saw those 10+ yr captains at piedmont, they were sick and tired of the horse turds your wonderful management threw at them and right now, the idea of going ANYWHERE but piedmont seems like a step up. Just what alot of the guys have been saying on here, Piedmont is a "sub regional" and I dont blame anybody who is trying to get some fresh air

Not 10+ year captains....10+ captains that are moving on. As in the number who have offers from other airlines including one to Alaska (which is a major). At least with them moving on it allows others the chance to upgrade while they can get some jet time for someone better like southwest. Are you just sore because you would have been a captain now and it makes you feel better about justifing your decision to leave? It was a gamble to stay, believe me I wanted to go somewhere else but I am hoping that it will pay off seeing as I am not too far from upgrade. At the regionals, it is all about the upgrade and not accepting a 6-8 year upgrade in a RJ/ERJ because it is a jet and pay $40/hour. Many people loss sight of that when they start getting tied down with kids and a morgage. I am willing to fly my ass off and upgrade ASAP while living like crap so I can get a better job, not just a better job at another regional like Republic.

False. We will lose airplanes/flying to offset any need to upgrade heavily.

This is not any different than SJS guys taking a 1 year upgrade at a bottom feeder while making crap wages so they can "get a better job."

Selling oneself out in order to get to where they want to be. This is the real problem. It does work, and most every pilot is guilty of it. Its not something that can simply be fixed by contract our regulation. It is only as moldable as ones own ethics and integrity.
