Mesa Interviews?

"mesa is IN the KENNEL just like the rest of the DOGS"
I agree. I helped a Mesa guy get on at UPS. Have two other friends who moved from Mesa to DL and AWE. And the one that's still there has had a shot at interviews for bigger and better things in the past year.

You know every once in a while Whiz makes a good point, therefore I'm just going to add on to it....
Whiz said on the previous page...
If you want to go to Mesa for the experience and to get your feet wet not because they fly a crj or whatever else that the previous post call SJS then go. Your tired of flight instructing and you want a new adventure so by all means go to Mesa. Now,... Here's what I will agree with... Mesa is not the top dog in the kennel however mesa is IN the KENNEL just like the rest of the DOGS(Repub, SKY WEST, ASA etc). MESA just like every other regional,.. wait I don't think I said that right... just like ever other REEEEEGIIOOONALLLLL is a STEPPING STONE to get across the POND to a GREENER PASTURE(MAJORS or UPS) so for all the wise guys on here flying E170's another SJS example and CRJ 900's Next GEN.. STEP ...... off your soap box and on to a major, and leave the guys and girls on here to their OWN Decisions... Being the Serpent in the Garden of Eden is not your job they can make their own decisions!!!

Let's see:
Mesa, GoJets, and a very few others = flying turbine aircraft building time
RAH, XJT, Comair, Colgan, and several others = furloughed collecting 50% or less of wages on unemployment for 26 or so weeks (yah yah, XJT ain't effective 'til October, still that's two additional months of seniority gained elsewhere), not building any turbine time, and not able to pay the rent.

I personally want to hear the bad side of it before I make a decision like that... what I DONT like is now some of these people (though not intentional) seem like they are trying to make us feel stupid for even thinking about it.... I have done my homework, I do realize that it might not be the best place in the world, but you know what? I have been many worse places. I got maybe 4 days off when I was in the middle east working 18-24 hour days... I know what rough is... I currently get 8 days off a month and im fine with that... I agree that days off does go into the equation for job satisfaction, but its not the end all.. yes the money isnt great, but you tell me where it is great at ANY regional first year.... none of them are...
Keep both sides coming, but quit with the ultra negativity... If something is bad just say you didnt like it... dont tell us we are stupid... You tell us to get informed then make us feel stupid for asking.... *END RANT*

Wow have you been on vacation for the last 6 months?, there will be THOUSANDS of guys on the street with unlimited 121 pic time. The stepping stone days are OVER. The pool of street guys/gals with exp far greater than doing steep turns in a 152 are daunting. So if you go to mesa you will be there for ever, and chances of a upgrade are entering the willy wonka zone. Thats reality so dont try to dress this pig up. That being said if you would rather do some 121 flying with 10 days off a month, by all means go for it, just expect to also be on the street very shortly.
I agree there are a plethora of highly qualified guys on the street furloughed right now, but I said nothing about upgrades or quick pic turbine time...
the whole thread was about making your own decision. Further more you don't need turbine pic to go to a major buddy and I have plenty of examples I can give you to back that one up. So back to what I was saying its about making the best decision for you and not living someone's dream off of a thread that holds no weight. My mentor (a UPS MD-11 Capt) once said "If it's for you, then do it!" and that's all I'm passing on.

I agree that for the most part the regionals are stepping stones and everyone has a strategy on the best way to get to their dream job at the majors. However, QOL is very different between the regionals. If you compare how many senior captains at Horizon or SkyWest plan on making a career there and how many senior captains at Mesa want to stay, I think that would speak for itself. Of course, some are willing to sacrifice to get the PIC time and then move on but to say they are all the same is really not true. However, I think no one should judge someone else who wants to get to their dream job and is willing to suffer in the next 3-5 while they get their hours. It is personal preference. I know a pilot at Fed Ex that flew at Great Lakes and probably took the fastest route to the majors. Great Lakes has very low pay and terrible work rules. But for some reason, no one slams on Great Lakes like they do Mesa. They are both crap company to work for but Mesa is much larger and spoken about much more often. Why?

Ask yourself a few questions:
Why Mesa is the only airline hiring now?
They are not the only part 121 operator hiring now. See other threads for a listing.
Why you never hear anything positive about Mesa?
Happy people tend to spend time with their families and friends instead of griping on message boards.
Why did Mesas stock get delisted from the NASDAQ and is trading at $00.40?
Why is XJT's stock trading at 35 cents and the expectation is for it to go to zero, plus received their delisting warning from the NYSE?
Mesa is still listed on the NASDAQ, they were only removed from one of the indexes, and they have a similar delisting warning notice from NASDAQ.
Why is Mesa being sued by several airlines?
Why are several airlines suing each other? Oh yeah, breach of contract for various offenses.
Why does Mesa have the highest turnover of Pilots in the industry?
Think a few other airlines qualify here, including a few majors.
Why Mesa does not guarantee pay for cancelled flights?
Why does Mesa pay historical block only?
Could it be the union reps didn't negotiate for it? Or the pilot group wasn't willing to strike for it? Or did the union have other fish to fry at negotiating time and decide not to pursue those desires? Did the pilots not communicate those wants to their negotiating committee?

BTW, it was me that wanted to know the fastest route at Mesa for turbine PIC. So far, it seems the one possiblity is the Dash as the jets have seat locks.

Actually, the Delta law suit is for a breach of contract.
Hawaiian sued because they felt that Mesa used confidential information provided to them when they were considering purchasing them, but instead started Go.
Aloha is sueing them for predatory pricing.
Mesa tried to sue an Aloha pilot for publicly stating slander against the company. (This forum should be plenty of bad publicity.)
It sounds like only the lawyers are turning a profit at Mesa.
So, if you want to work for Mesa, be a lawyer, not a pilot.

Or you could be furloughed. For some folks, they could also be terminated in lieu of being furloughed if in the first year.
