They are now threatening to revoke the flight privleges of anyone who requests or receives a JS with open seats in the cabin.
Where is any that posted?

As for 9E, also a non-wholly owned sub-contractor for NW, we board at a lower priority (5) whereas Mainline and wholly-owned's have higher priority. That's part of life. Coming from a mainline airline, there are lots of differences that I have to get used to. We do not even have access to RADAR (where you can list for flights on-line. We have to call a toll-free number - which is very difficult to do when you're in Asia!) That's the one thing I wish would change in this upcoming merger...give everyone the same access to the flight benefits - mainline, and *all* regional carriers who fly for the new DL.

I have an F* that was given me by a gate agent dated June/July. It shows the current policy. I can summarize it if you want, or scan it and email it to you.

The email or HI6 technically, was sent out by Bill Boone and supposedly went to all Eagle pilots. It discussed the current policy and where you could find the policy.

It also told us we could lose our privileges by taking advantage of the "loophole".

Unfortunately I did not print it out or remember much more of it because it utterly ticked me off so bad I could not think straight afterward! I'm sure I could drum up a copy if necessary. I'll just get it from the source if you need it. Personally I don't want to ever look at it again. I'm JS'ing other airlines now. I get better treatment and far less hassle! And its free.

The email is as follows:

19SEP08
<<<<NON-REV TRAVEL>>>><<<<<1W JUMPSEAT>>>>>
THERE HAVE BEEN ALOT OF INSTANCES LATELY WITH CREWMEMBERS
REQUESTING THE 1-W TO AVOID PAYING NON-REV SERVICE CHARGES
WE HAVE BEEN GETTING COMPLAINTS FROM AA REGARDING THIS
PRACTICE AND NEED TO CLEAR UP WHAT APPEARS TO BE SOME
MISUNDERSTANDING WITH THE TRAVEL POLICIES AND PROCEDURES.
BOTH THE TRIP BOOK AND THE F*PSM STATE THAT THE 1-W CAN
ONLY BE ASSIGNED WHEN THERE ARE NO SEAT AVAILABLE IN THE
CABIN. PLEASE REFER TO THE TRIP BOOK IN JETNET AND ALSO
THE PSM IN RES (F*PSM/JUMPSEAT, F*33) FOR DETAILED INFO.
PLEASE REMEMBER THAT TRAVEL PRIVILEGES ARE JUST THAT AND
CAN BE REVOKED AT ANYTIME. I DO NOT WANT TO SEE ANY OF
MY PILOTS END UP IN THIS SITUATION. ANY QUESTIONS PLEASE
CONTACT YOUR CHIEF PILOT.
CAPT. BILL BOONE
VICE PRESIDENT-FLIGHT OPERATIONS

End email

Why our travel privileges could be revoked for asking for the 1-W I have no clue - its the gate agents that should be getting in trouble for giving out the 1-W when there are seats available in the cabin, not the pilots for simply asking for the jumpseat. Ultimately, the gate agents are in control of who gets what, as we are all well aware.

But that's the program.

Interesting. Since I didn't get one. Even checked the hi16/19sep and nothing there like that. What base/equip you on?

Wow, that makes me mad too. I jumpseat on you guys all the time, AA and AE and don't have to pay a dime. But to jump on your own airline, you have to pay, and if you "cheat" you get disciplined. Thats a good way to run an airline. I don't like rules that make me feel like I'm in junior high school again. Do you think that rule could get waived if enough people complain?

It truly is sad how LITTLE control AA pilots have over their OWN JS's.

NO, I'm not flaming the AA guys, just pointing out the reality of the situation.

Yeah, that's how it feels. Very Jr. High-ish. I don't know about getting the rule waived. We'd have to bring it up with the MEC and see what can be done. But in general, most everybody just wants to put along and not make waves. I don't want to make waves either, but the policy just doesn't make sense.

I agree. We can still sit in the JS if the Captain invites us (which has happened to me) - why I would want to when I'm paying for a seat in back I don't know - but no more asking for it with available seats. Apparently we just have to show up at the gate and take what we get. The problem being, if the only seat available is 1st Class, we are potentially out a lot of money...money that we're not recouping in the form of high wages. Preaching to the choir though, I'm sure!

For those Non Reving on US Airways.. Is the $20 upgrade new or has it been around? I have been put in first class several times and never paid a penny. Is this just luck with a good gate agent?
