I know the 50 or so were sent home I don't quite consider them as furloughed....as no time was spent in the plane, but for those 150 my prayers and thoughts go out to your families in this time of need!

Actually, if they are given a seniority #, they are considered furloughed. Which I would assume was done. Just because they didn't make it to the airplane doesn't mean they are any better off. Those 50 sent home from ground school are just as unemployed as the rest. They quit their job to start training and my guess is they are struggling like the others to find something else. Good luck to everyone that is out looking in this crap economy. Even a job at Denny's is tough to come by.

Hmmm... maybe people should actually pay attention and see that maybe Mesa has some good work rules, instead of blindly saying they suck completely. I'm fairly certain that a bunch of us would be on no list if that happened at our regional.

[FONT='Calibri','sans-serif']Almost all airlines will give you a seniority number as soon as you start orientation before training. That is not a MESA only thing. Plus, I would not call a seniority number at MESA a good thing. You should be looking for Jobs at a respectable place as you wait for a call back from the worst place to work. Best of luck to you. Actually, that is a good point. I have heard of many occasions where management terminated those with a seniority number for no reason (because they can) rather than furlough. I am not sure if there is any difference for the airline but it is a huge difference to the pilot that now has to hope that each interviewer throughout the rest of their career believes them that they were terminated rather than furloughed at no fault of their own. I have heard through a friend of a friend so no real proof, that Chataqua did that to their last class of trainees. That is one of the companies that is considered 'respectable' at the regional level. In fact I personally know a few pilots that left Mesa to go fly for them.
So yeah, maybe Mesa did something right for once.

There are 9/10/01 hires on the XJT seniority list that were sent home first-week but recalled in normal order.

I can only hope you don't work for Mesa. It's bad enough that the concept of brotherhood is totally meaningless to you. Why are those 50 guys not deserving of your "prayers and thoughts" to their families?
My prayers and thoughts are with all furloughs, especially those at a regional who didn't even get the chance to get some time. It certainly looks a lot better on a resume to have 100 hours in a CRJ than to have 100 hours in a Seminole when you're trying to find a job in this economy - even a non aviation job. "I was an airline pilot" still means something outside of aviation.

System wide. One seniority list. Simply cutting the bottom 150 across both certificates (Freedom and Mesa).

Those people, as inexperienced and insignificant as they may be, probably all gave up jobs and cleared their schedules for six months to attend training...it would nice if their committment is reciprocated by the company.
I'm not excusing their judgement failure for accepting a job at MAG in the first place.
