They seem to have withdrawn the vacancy/displacement bid.... can't pull it up on SABRE anymore... standby for revision 1

Do you think they will keep the 400 plus DFE???

I would bet that the mins may be 1000/250.... but competitive mins may be much much higher at every level.

It depends on what the airlines want. Mesaba can hire anyone they want and they are favoring low time guys for some reason. When eagle hires again they might not want to hire a huge amount of people that will have the ability to leave eagle quickly when a better job opens up. The low time guys on average will probably stick around longer than the guy with tons of experience who is going to be competitive at any airline that is hiring and would have no good reason to stick around at eagle if he could get a much better job.

They always have.... with the historically worst working conditions compounded by the worst pay, they typically have been the last stop for job seekers.... or in some cases those that live right next to a base.

I just think that training cost wise you are probably going to save money training low time guys that will stick around for awhile than training over qualified pilots that will be gone quickly and then you have to train someone new. The over qualified guys will be cheaper to train but that will get canceled out if they are able to move on quickly.

The schoolhouse doesn't close down.... it's running all the time... oddly enough, they would rather have people who will pass the training, and then only stay a few years... their entire business model works better when they can maintain a low seniority workforce... so, contrary to popular opinion... they would rather have the people they KNOW will pass training, but may only stay a few years.

I have to disagree. I mean, how much more can you squeeze out of a 96-99% pass rating. the new guys are just as likely to pass training as a vet, in my opinion. So it makes more sense to me to get a better return on the investment and hire the young folks.

There is going to be hiring soon. Due to attrition and who knows from what else. Rumor has it as soon as the beginning of '09.

This might be beating a dead horse, but any updates on the BOS base recently? Is it closing for sure? I'm about to hit the street and AE might be an option but mainly for the reason I'd be home based so it's pretty much a deciding factor. Thanks!
