Source that, I'm curious now. Did Chautauqua pilots actually take a pay cut in exchange for additional flying? I hadn't heard that before so it's kinda suspect. RAH guys feel free to chime in.

i think biting implies that his comment angered people. This clown made himself sound like @ss and everyone appears to be ripping on him.

I agree he's a tool, I just didn't expect anyone to acknowledge his stupidity, this just gives him insentive to do it again, you know we have a couple of troubled children here, let's not add another one.

now i was not at RAH when we picked up the delta contract but we have never taken a pay cut in turn to get any flying recently (CAL YX F9 Mokulele) despite what the rest of the regional pilot group might think. Our pay scales are average with the rest of the industry. The biggest reason we are as succesful as we are is because the pilot group is considerably junior. This allows us to have lower labor costs since most captains are on average 5 year guys and most FO's are 1-1.5 year guys. Also we dont have alot of managment and other office type personel so fewer mouths to feed per aircraft.

OK, serious answer from someone who was really and truly "there when it happened." As in: in the room participating.

This all occurred at the speed of labor relations; meaning over a period of months.

In late '06/early '07 RAH management came to the RAH MEC (we call it EXCO) with a carrot and a stick. "How much are you willing to give up in order to get a bunch of CRJ's on the Delta side? And by the way, we can end-run the scope clause and start an alter ego if you don't agree." Nobody ever used the "C-word" (Comair) but everyone knew where a bunch of DL flying and a bunch of CRJ's might come from.

The company reps said the concessions would result in growth, refusal in shrinkage.

The answer: "Go to Hell!"

Next offer: "OK, how about this, then: We don't touch the pay rates, but we take one seat out of each of these CRJ's and pay the 37-49 seat rate? And by the way, we can and will end-run the scope clause and start up an alter ego if you don't agree."

"Go to Hell!"

Right in the middle of all this, the Comair MEC sent a delegation to IND to meet with the RAH EXCO. This was obstensively a meet and greet, but the Comair MEC also may have got wind of the dirty work afoot and it may have been a fact finding mission to see what was going through the RAH EXCO's minds. The two groups met at the rib place next to the Holiday Inn in IND which is near the RAH corporate offices. Ribs were devoured, beers consumed and the situation discussed in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

Next day the RAH EXCO was at the boardroom table in the corporate offices. The carrot and the stick were brandished once again more enticingly and more menacingly respectively. The answer:

Take your "concessions for growth" and your alter ego threats and stuff them. Then go pound sand. Then go to Hell."

So how many of Comair's CRJ's are the RAH guys flying for DL? None.
How much of a pay concession did the RAH guys take in order to fly the Comair CRJ's for DL? None.
How many jobs did the RAH guys lose the the threatened alter ego? None.

So Rickkane, there is a direct answer to your obviously inflammatory question. From someone who was there.

In the room.

Participating.

I suggest you check your sources before you post such falsehoods ignorantly or construct your falsehoods more cleverly before you post them deliberately. That way they will not be so easily exposed.

Sorry; forgot one:

How many Comair pilots were put out of work when the RAH guys got all those Comair CRJ's? None.
