My girlfriend thinks your Avatar is the best. Is that your cat? If it is how did you get your cat to sit still with that melon peel on top of his head? That is the funniest Avatar I've seen hands down.
BTW good luck with your interview. I am sure you will get hired. Interview process is a painless process and it looks like a good time to get on board.

Reading info like that on ATL/JFK makes one wonder why on earth Delta would shut down Memphis as some have suggested they might...Memphis could take a lot of pressure off of ATL for Southern/Southeastern routes, and with 18C/36C could even act as a decent connecting hub for some long-range stuff...zero icing issues in winter, decent weather year-round, and anyone who has been in MEM after one of the pushes knows they could squeeze in a decent "flow" of additional flights (per Delta's route structure, which is less push-oriented) while MEM is a ghosttown in the AM at least (afternoon in between pushes would conflict with FedEx I guess).
But I've heard from lots of mainline DAL that CVG will stand and Memphis will get reduced...just been trying to get my head wrapped around that one...

I agree with that, who knows we'll see what happens.......

mem pushes are timed the way they are for several reasons. first like you mentioned fedex. as soon as our pushes are done all the fedex planes start rolling out. anyone who has been late out of memphis knows that if you are more than an hour late you know that you will be number 15 behind fedex. second we have tight alleys in mem. it would be a cluster if people were comming and going at different times. everyone comes in, and then everyone goes out.
i have also heard the rumor that we would be starting the 4th push again in mem. we used to have it a long time ago (back in the saab days) and it would leave around 1030 or so at night. that would help reduce some of the flights out of atlanta if they could add another push to mem.

(2) The Compass planes ARE included in the total 76 seat count, what was waivered is their MGW. Only those 36 planes are allowed over the weight limit.
(3) DALPA is keeping a close eye on the number of airframes allowed.

actually from what i have heard memphis is going to become a bigger international hub for delta, focusing on the asian markets. i heard this from some of the delta guys in memphis. not that it means anything but growing memphis and taking some of the heat of atl makes perfect sense.

I don't see DL expanding overseas from MEM and definitely not to Asia...the local market is not there. Growth to Asia is more likely from SEA, DTW,JFK and ATL. As it is now, MEM only can support AMS and thats only because of the depth of NW's relationship with KL. I know MEM is profitable for NW but its not the cash cow that ATL is. ATL is not at capacity and I just don't see DL forgoing int'l expansion there in favor of MEM.

"MESABA TO RECEIVE AN ADDITIONAL 15 CRJ-900’s
November 7, 2008
By Chris Fink [email protected]
Mesaba Airlines has announced it was recently chosen by Delta Air Lines to receive 15 CRJ-900 NextGen aircraft, beginning in January of 2009. Mesaba will start taking delivery of this new allotment once the initial schedule of 36 CRJ-900 aircraft is completed in December.
"This announcement reinforces Mesaba's reputation of exceptional operating performance and competitive costs, which has continuously put us in position to explore new growth opportunities," said Mesaba President John Spanjers.
Mesaba will operate seven existing aircraft, which were manufactured within the past year, as well as eight new CRJ-900’s which are currently being produced for Delta by Bombardier. Mesaba will take delivery of these aircraft January through May of 2009. After undergoing conformity checks, the first aircraft will commence revenue service on February 12, with all 15 aircraft scheduled to be on-line by June.
The interior of these additional aircraft will be similar to that of the first 36 planes, and will feature the same 12 first class/64 coach class configuration as Mesaba’s current CRJ-900 fleet.
Mesaba will operate the new aircraft from Atlanta under the Delta Connection name, and will feature Delta’s blue, red and white livery.
Once this new delivery phase is completed, Mesaba will operate a fleet of 117 aircraft, including 51 CRJ-900’s, making Mesaba the largest operator of 76-seat aircraft in the Delta family."

ATL is far better positioned for international growth than MEM is. If anything, MEM will become a domestic relief hub for ATL, which is bursting at the seams. If DL is smart, they'll take full advantage of MEMs costs (CHEAP! thanks FedEx) and efficiency and use both southern hubs to their advantage. DTW is probably best suited for Asian expansion, not ATL. I'd be most worried about CVG, succumbing to a "focus city" status. CVG provided nothing that DTW can't already do and does better, other than the CVG local market. Many of those folks are lost to CMH and DAY anyhow.

I also do not see MEM growing as new DAL hub. For Asian market, more viable options might be LAX, SLC or SEA. I think new DAL will probably expand DTW, SLC, and LAX by shifting planes from MEM, CVG, and MSP.
