As for the commuter policy it is 1. Full of holes and 2. Not in a contract and is just that "policy" and you can certainly still be fired if they felt like it.
Why it is full of holes: You are required to list for a flight that will get you to your destination a "reasonable" amount of time before your showtime. What exactly is reasonable, to me its ten minutes to mgmt if they do not like you or want to deal with you it could be 2 days.
There has to be a "reasonable" amount of open seats. To me I call the jumpseat being open good. Are they looking for 2,3,10%? So basically you are not ever in the clear unless they decide they want you to be in the clear. To be honest your only hope as I have seen are the dispatchers. Get on their good side and they may just work something out for you without passing that information on to the powers that be.
Uniform allowance, yes it is good but 200 bucks does not put us on the same level as a quality airline and contract such as express. How about paying me a respectable rate for the equipment that I fly and ill buy my own uniform.

There has been already instances where crewmembers have attempted to use the "commuter policy" without success. In one such instance the crewmember was told, "The policy is no longer in effect." Now that could just a crew scheduling miss communication, but given recent events and policy changes, it's just business as usual.

That comment right there about getting in with the dispatchers on their good side is exactly whats wrong with Colgan. Why should I get in on anyones's good side. I show up, do my job as best I can and go home. I don't have time to be cultivating and kissing anyone's ass. Besides, the dispacther's we have aren't exactly A-listers(Regine comes to mind).
I have been with pilots who complain about being activated off reserve and then fly into their reserve days. They then turn around on the phone buddy, buddy up with Jackay, Irene/Amy, Gina and the Clinster trying to horse trade a favorable schedule, not knowing this will only screw their fellow pilots who do not play such games's.
Stop the bs horsetrading, vote for the union and get a fair contract.

Was anybody able to take advantage of the free meal on Thanksgiving that was promised per the crewtrac message? I showed up in LGA and sure enough, CIBO was closed. (It was only noon.) I wonder, when mgmt was arranging this $15 credit with CIBO, did CIBO tell Colgan that they weren't actually going to be open, or did Colgan already know this?

I would have posted sooner, but I was trying to get through the amazing amount of emails sent by management. I felt I owed it to myself. Unfortunately none of this information is new! I'm not sure how many times we can all read about the "merged seniority list" and the Q400. Is this the best they could do? How about a new arguement? How about some specifics- please tell us what we can expect from management in 2009, beyond? There has not been an email so far with any promises to the pilots! It starts at the top, which has done nothing impressive yet! They have proven you do not need to actually be good at your job to work in Manassas, especially if your last name starts with a C. Nothing will change without new faces in the positions that so effect us, the pilots. Representation is your protection! I ask you to reread the first post of this thread and the other quality posts after reading the anti-union messages from those who have shown they are not ready to make the changes that would benefit you!

Getting on anyones good side is always a benefit. Fight the powers by submitting your vote, I did. I learned in the military that you can have one guy who fights the system the whole way and one guy that does not and see where they end up.
