Some people need to get a few more hours each month. Or in the case of commuters it might be better to grab a 2 day out of initial open time to avoid getting stuck with some lousy non-commutable day line or something.

Before yall go calling everyone a scab think about some peoples situations out there that might need 5 or 10 more hours on the check.

I agree dont go grabbin 5 more trips or anything but dont jump to the scab gun too quickly.
Not picking up an extra 5 hours a month will not result in you losing your house and not be able to be able feed your family because you are out of a job. Do you think my daughter or son will understand when I tell them I lost my job because my company can get away with less people on the payroll because selfish people like you will pick up a few extra hours to help the company? You are one selfish dude. Good luck to all the furlough guys and gals.

I still hear people on the bus and in the crew lounge talking about picking up open time, and I fly with captains that still pick up trips when they can. When I say something about it, most people don't seem to see a problem with it.

How do you know where they're going to work? Not everyone has the same moral flexibility you seem to have. I don't pick up open time anymore, I just pick up advertise trips when I need extra cash. I don't go out to eat as much as I use to; because I know that every hour of open time left in open time reflects the actual staffing numbers allowing for a quicker recall of our guys.

Real nice of you, true class act, seriously you should consider gojets.

You are a perfect candidate for Go Jets, Mesa, Freedumb and Go Airlines. Are you sure you work for ASA?

Since the block hours have been slowly decreasing over the past few months so has the opentime. A few months ago there would be open time all month. Heck I remember a little over a year ago when I was on reserve and there were so many trips in open time we could call scheduling and they might give you a trip. Lately by the first week there is nothing in opentime. At least on the FO side of the CR7 this has been the trend. Even during initial opentime there really isn't much to add to your line. After line completion there has been about 500hrs worth of trips. Not really enough to even keep another 20 guys employed with low blocked lines. I'm not sure what it has been on the CR2 and well..........we all got the memo on the ATR. My point is that it's not like they are working us to the bone to save some money. If no one picks up the opentime it would be enough to keep reserve guys flying about 25 hours a month. Some reserves are hardly flying at all.

Dude, just say you're sorry for making such "tool like" accusations, and misrepresenting your pilot group, and move on.

Oh and my sources are the Scheduling supervisors, who've stated such in meetings.
I still have friends at XJT who are quite adamant that open time is still being picked up, and the pipe is just another source to back that up. In fact, you're the only person who's even come close to telling me that people aren't picking up time. My friends on reserve are constantly having the rug pulled out from under them by people plucking up the open time.

I just can't believe any of what you're saying at face value after the overwhelming amount of evidence against it. Now, let's stop hijacking this thread. If you'd like to continue this discussion, PM me. But first, drop the attitude before you do so.

Oh you got friends, wow, what was I thinking?

PM'd you already, why don't you have your friends call scheduling and see who's picking up the open time. As per the night supervisors, there's a lot of last minute trading taking place which is perfectly acceptable as it places other trips back in the pool.

You got called out dude, you accused your peers of doing something they're not doing. They're doing the opposite, they've changed their lifestyles for you and 346 of your peers. The least you can say is thank you, and that you're sorry for accussing your peers without any real cause whatsoever.

This is not a thread hijack, because it directly sends the wrong message to those that think it's ok to pick up open time at ASA. Nice job, way to support your peers and your fellow ALPA pilots at ASA that are being furloughed.

Quit being a drama queen. You expanded my sentence into my attitude toward ALPA and ASA's plight? YGBSM.

The reason you'll never get an apology out of me is because you're trying to be a bully about it. If you can give me irrefutable proof that open time isn't being picked up, I'll consider it. But until then, I know for a fact that open time is still being picked up. Right now. As we speak. Can you prove to me otherwise?

Or do you expect me to just take your word for it?
