Must be nice to be able to fudge - those of us with ACARS still manage to make our performance numbers without the 5-10 minute fudging.

90% of pilots fudge times from time to time in their careers... the other 10% are lying.

Trust me, ACARS makes no difference.

Normalization of Deviance. I also recall that is was common practice at mag to depart with a few white status messages...without bothering mx.

It makes it a little more of a pain in the butt.

you mean like popping the brake at scheduled push time. Or going into the mx menu of the acars and hitting "serge" if you dont like the ones you have?

not that i care... only time on time matters is last day, last leg.

Perhaps not, but the door has to be closed and the brake released. You can only do this if everyone is on board, gate pulled, etc. If you're even a minute late, ACARS shows it (we can't change ours like someone implied).

So that's why both times I DH'ed on Mesa they had MX items after pushback?

You can fudge your times all you want, that's not going to fix your operation the majors aren't stupid they compare the times, it just might give you a few more minutes of pay. You guys must be professionals at that huh? Pretty sad. This is the reason why you guys are where you are. No major believes in your operation with most wanting to get rid of you guys, including the worlds largest airline. Airways express, doesn't use ACARS, curious at to what the real numbers would be there as well.

Probably couldn't get an engine to start.

i DH'd on a mesa flight (hrs delayed) in which the captain told me it (200) would only be dispatched if a mechanic sat in the jumpseat. during the flight the emergency lights came on a few times. Not rad.

im thoroughly convinced it will be catastrophe that finally sinks this company.
