Default any other carriers doing this???

BEGINNING FEBRUARY 15, THE NEW SAFETY VEST PROGRAM WILL
BE IN EFFECT. ALL CREWMEMBERS WHILE WORKING ON AND AROUND
THE AIRPORT OPERATIONS AREA (AOA) SHALL WEAR A HIGHLY
VISIBLE SAFETY VEST OVER THEIR OUTERMOST GARMENT.
FOR PILOTS, THE VEST WILL BE WORN WHILE CONDUCTING
PRE/POST FLIGHT INSPECTIONS, WALKING TO THE AIRCRAFT FROM
OPERATIONS, AND ALL OTHER TIMES WHILE WORKING ON THE RAMP
AND AOA AREA. THE VEST ARE NOW A STRICT REQUIRMENT ON
THE AOA AND WILL BE CONSIDERED PART OF THE PILOT UNIFORM.
THE VESTS WILL BE DISTRIBUTED BY YOUR CHIEF PILOT AND SHOULD
BE OBTAINED PRIOR TO THE 15FEB START DATE.

Lasted about a week for us. Now they're wadded up in a seat pocket and covered with dust (unless you're in Canada).

I haven't even seen them in Canada much. Too many of our pilots were stealing the vests to use when jogging.

Can't count how many times I've almost been nailed by a tug on a cold dark winter night. It's a good idea, I wish our company did it. Check your ego at the door, when you come to work. Yes I do use a helmet when I bike, snowboard etc. I can't afford to die, I owe too much

Ha! And my company thinks it looks unprofessional when we wear black fleece over our uniforms in 20 degree weather. I could just imagine the scene as hordes of road workers are milling about our ramp.

i forgot to stop by the chief pilots office today to get mine....

it amazes me that they probably spent a bajillion dollars on getting us all vests but it took an OSHA intervention for them to give us a decent crew room...

i remember the days growing up when no kid in their right mind wore a helmet while biking, or snowboarding, or sledding, or riding a sled behind a moving car at 2am, last I checked, we all survived....as far as wearing a safety orange or yellow/green/purple/etc vest while preflighting.....not sure i need that either, i always stay within the perimeter of the plane, shouldnt be any moving vehicles nearby minus the caterer and its hard to miss that one....granted im just a newbie crj pilot and dont have a ton of ramp experience, but i did spend 9 years flying for the navy and never once did i feel i needed a reflective vest on the ramp (non carrier based).
