I don't know guys...I think this will be a windfall for XJet -- that these three months are only a trial-run of a long-term contract. Why else would UAL bring in an entirely new partner with whom they've only worked with for a short time once before? Between SkyWest, Mesa, TSA/G7, and RAH, ANY flying they needed could be pulled off, and for the most part, utilizing current airframes being flown just a few hours more daily.
I wouldn't be surprised to see XJet flying UAL birds here shortly...

It could be possible that the other uax carriers couldn't do it. I don't believe for a second that ua is "testing" a carrier. They care about the money and availability. With all those planes around who knows that they offered for the flying.

Oh, and United ='s bean counters looking at the bottom line bro. Xpressjet is not cost effective at all...um 50 seater erjs and a higher cost doing the same stuff waterski's doing minus a little maintenance...it just doesnt jive. this is a routine summer back up plan. FML
yeha why is chatapaqua(erjs) or whatever still even in the mix?

Longer term? possible but i this is far from a windfall for xjt. Our management is desperate for a chance and in a market where there is no real growth they had to go out and make something happen. We are probably doing this at the CAL CPA rate and arent making money off of it. Our charter has slowed down a little and this was a good way to keep those airplanes active and making revenue.
To the poster above. You are absolutely right that 50 seaters are slowly going away because they were over-bought in the late 90's. They are still going to be around for some time just not in the numbers they were. United is paying a fixed rate to those other 50 seat operators per block hour. We are offering the cheapest 50 seat, jet lift in the world right now to CAL and other airlines are taking notice. You are absolutely right that it is beyond a long shot at XJT securing more flying but you cant blame the management for trying

Does anyone know what the actual numbers are as far as rates for 50-seaters per block hour at UAL, CAL, etc.? I'm just curious.
