Not sure what you mean by "again".
I was only trying to keep it in perspective for the "but......but.......they're stealing out flying!" crowd.
Not that I think the guy I quoted was saying that, but I'm sure somebody will chime in with it sooner or later.

This is TEMPORARY flying for 3 months. This happens to be the 3 busiest months for the airlines. You know how Yo-nited rolls.. They'll hire/get temporary help for the summer and then fire as soon as the summer is over.
So far, there is nothing pointing at longer term flying for UAL. With that said, you won't see any recalls anytime soon. Will that change? I hope so. I think United could benefit from the great service provided by XJT and it would be very nice to see some furloughs back on property.

We've seen a big increase in our DEN flying recently. It's nice to get away from IAD and ORD for a while. I was just through there yesterday.
We are staffed here at Mesa, so much so that they are offering 7-day, 30-day, 6-month and 12-month voluntary time off, and vacation buying (you can purchase hours of vacation and take them at your leisure). We've also furloughed 80, with 20 more coming.
I don't think anyone besides XJET has any airframes sitting around, and no one could buy new ones and staff them in time to cover the flying.

I think it is purely the need for more airframes on a temporary basis.

I beg to differ. I think that Hulie could probably get a real nice lease on a few of them in pretty short order and maybe bring back some of OUR furloughees to cover the flying that we already do for United in the first place, you know, with that Dulles crew base and all. Just sayin.
