Question for SAABs to ATL-HHH

I realize HHH is only 3,700' but can you really only take 10-15 pax over there from ATL? TravelNet shows the auth. number to be that low sometimes.

Yep, our landing numbers cap out around 25000lbs for landing as opposed to the 28500 limitation. Guess that's why there's five flights a day to HHH.

Thanks. I flew the SAAB in the 90's and do remember the landing numbers being limiting on some of the shorter strips. Oh well. HHH is probably fun to do. 3,700' is pretty dang short for an airliner. even if it is a TP. Do ya'll have the HS props?

Nope, have the Rowty Dowtys. HHH is a fun trip, even if you have to shuttle 15 peeps at a time.

its 4300 x 100 and we usually take 30 to 32 out of charlotte in the dash 8 100. Used to go full until the weights changed man i love PW 120's

HXD is 4000' useable for landing, 4300' usable for takeoff. It'd be the perfect market for the next-gen ATR-42/72.

But talking about Hilton Head and being runway limited...saw a Challenger 604 there yesterday! It wasn't going far (TYS I think) so they were light, but still...

Pen Air operates Saabs in to DUT which is 3900'. Talk about a controlled crash. Alaska flew the 37-200's there as well, now those were weight limited.

Are those landing limitations based on Flaps 35? I never had an occasion to fly a full SAAB into a short strip, but repo flights to HEF were easy enough on the short runway with Flaps 35.
