Sure every airplane has a condescending nickname, but why do some of you guys always feel the need to say something insulting to a fellow pilot? No one likes it, so just don't do it... it's immature and unprofessional. You could just as easily be sitting in their seat and them in yours with a different roll of the dice come hiring time. Those of you who think you are better than everyone else and always want to say something to prove it are just showing what an a$$ you are every time you key the mike.

And speaking as a Dash 8 FO, it embarasses me when a captain does this. Oh, and I know exactly who the Dash 8 captain in this story is.. he always has something to say about every airplane and every pilot. According to him every plane is a piece of #### and every pilot is a dumb *********. I hope he reads these forums so he will know how much all his FO's hate flying with him and his "I am God's Gift to Flying" attitude.

That's the only reason I posted this story here. In case he reads this forum. When he was cleared for take off I wanted to (but didn't) tell him to "enjoy your 6 legs".

Your assertion that the dash is neither sophisticated or fast is pure trash. Sure we don't cruise anywhere near .92 but our block times on several of our short range flights are shorter than those of our RJ counterparts and I'm pretty sure they cruise faster than us too. when was the last time you rolled out on final at 500agl in a citation x or any rj? Your equipment is cool man I will give you that, but the dash is a hell of a sophisticated airplane, complex as hell and one of the most difficult type ratings to obtain out there. its one badass mofo in its niche, so is the cit x.oh and sorry to hear that you were trash talked on the radio, I hope you were the bigger man about it.

Sorry I wasn't trying to be condesending toward your airplane. My point was the uncalled for and unprofessional radio comment.

According to QX management Dash 8 have jet like speeds. So it's possible.

Please explain to me how it is either? 230 kias is SLOW.. sophisticated, give me a break; perhaps compared to the 172 you were flying before.

I'd like to see an example; give me a flight # and city pairing I can look up on theHub. If the flight is short enough to remain below 10k, the difference between 250 kias and ~230 kias is nominal.

When was the last time you rolled out on final at 500agl in a citation x or any rj?
This justifies your "sophisticated and fast" statement how? RE: 500agl.. just about every time doing the expressway vis in LGA or river vis in DC; once again, not sure what your point is there.

Lighten up guys, It's funny. I understand the X isn't a slowtation, but give the guy a break, he flys the Dash. Do you know what the hole in the tailcone on the dash is from? Bird strike damage! They put a screen on it so birds can't nest in flight.
I think this thread should be changed into "Fun we can make of our own equipment".
