Is the guy who wears the brown shorts and delivers packages in aviation or the delivery industry?? I don't understand your point.

Alaska Airlines has a mostly new fleet with cutting edge technology that is used to accommodate the most challenging airports and approaches. Rotting away over the ocean at 35,000 feet in the right seat of a 30 year old DC-10 for 8 hours just doesn't hold the same magic. I already flew for Horizon Air and not only did it blow but it almost assures that you will never be hired by Alaska Airlines.

Alaska Airlines has a stigma against all Horizon Employees almost like a big brother little brother complex. In addition they have used hiring at Alaska Airlines as a tool to threaten the Horizon Pilots. Lastly for every pilot Alaska Airlines hires from Horizon they have to en cure the expense to train two, one as the new AS hire and another to replace the Horizon vacancy. During the time I was at Horizon Alaska Airlines hired 4 from little brother and 80 from Skywest. I had to get out.

That is true as well. Also the like to hire firends and relatives first over all else so there really are few spots left for regular guys.

Just because a persons place of work is at the airport I don't think puts them in aviation.

If I could not fly, I would try to put myself in another professional occupation in the industry. As far as what you consider "in aviation" and what I consider, it doesn't really matter and has no bearing on the argument. You want to say that an airport manager isn't in the aviation industry...fine...but AAAE and the hundreds of airport managers around the country might disagree with you. And while an airport manager could go work at Dairy Queen...and manager for Dairy Queen could not just up and go run an airport. If you think they can, then you have very little knowledge as to exactly what that particular job and the training/experience required entails. But if you want to nit pick and go down the line of every job that has someone go near an airplane and determine if it's "in aviation" or not, then by all means...knock yourself out. But the people reading this thread might get a little bored...
