When AWAC took the concessions in 2003 it was simply to retain the flying that we already had with United. We were asked for concessions after MESA took thier POS contract which then made AWAC too expensive, which we fell for. The second time United came to us for concessions the pilot group told them to stick it. This resulted in the transition to US Airways while AWAC management kept in place the concessionary contract that was only to be in effect if the United flying was secure.
It warms my heart to see the pilot group still at AWAC is willing to hold the line.

Yeah, I know. I was at ACA during the UAL BK. We had to go through the same crap. With different end results.

Don't forget who the flying really belongs to and where it should be. The only way to reduce the whipsaw is to reduce the scope. To do this regionals must get more expensive. We need growth at mainline not at the regional level.

Wasn't AWAC the same company that United tried to bend over and AWAC told them to stuff it. Then United came groveling back to try to keep the 146's to still serve Aspen and again were told to stuff it? If so why would AWAC now want anything to do with a POS operation like that?

The fact that AWAC pilots still have a spine is good news and should be held up as an example. The line has to be drawn somewhere and I'm glad your group is still refusing to sell out.
For what it's worth I hope AWAC gets the flying.
