We are definitely short of pilots, but that seems to be a theme across the industry.

They called me for a junior man situation yesterday for this morning even though I start a 4-day trip tomorrow morning, so that would have been compromised.

We need some more upgrades especially.

I do not know if we have had any recent attrition among the senior ranks.

Latest rumor is that we will be upgrading 18 pilots and hiring 30 or so in the very near future. Airways came to the company a couple days ago informing them that our block hours will be going up by 1,000 hours this fall I and not going down a 1,000 as they had been previously told.

Not sure how accurate this is, but this is what I heard.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone think that 1500tt/ 1250 me/turbine time is too much for Air Wisconsin? I have heard both yes and no but would like the opinion of some whisky pilots. I submitted my online app yesterday and also mailed in my resume and just keeping my fingers crossed

Supply and demand dude....if you were in charge you'd be doing the same thing

Most of our new hires are failing out of training anyway.

i have 3300tt/2600me/2300 turbine and an internal rec and my app has been in review since Feb. Has any one herd what there new hires have been time wise? If they are haveing such high failer rates why are they staying with the lower time guys/gals

It might not be the low time guys/gals that are having some issues...

Recently it hasn't been the low time guys having problems. The last batch of new hires were airbus pilots and a few of them didn't make it through our training program. I know one got let go for an attitude problem and I know for sure one resigned because he couldn't re-grasp the moving thrust lever concept. Either way it was unfortunate but glad our training department is doing their jobs properly.

I got called at 1050/145me - no internals etc etc. It was an entirely unexpected call.

Well this might sound bad but mabe there is a reason the airbus calls out retard at 50 feet

Huh, interesting, I haven't herd the upgrade thing, but it'd sure be nice to see some people move off reserve and some general movement at this company would be nice.
