DAL Pilot Types have been hearing this. Could be an easy way to shed extra unwanted lift/aircraft without having to go to court or buy out a contract. Don't really believe it. But is slightly plausible. When Comair was up for sale, they were "making boatloads of money". Two months later, when the pilot contract was up for renegotiations, Comair was "bleeding millions". Only Delta knows the truth. I don't think Delta wants to open up their books by filing Ch11 and letting everyone see how much XJ makes with negotiations starting next year. As far as Delta filing for just XJ - How about they just file for the XJ airplanes they want to dump? Wouldn't that be like Donald Trump having his left leg file bankruptcy, but don't touch that stuff over there cause it belongs to his right leg? |

That was already done when we were in bankruptcy. The Saab leases were redone to allow for an early termination date. Delta is phasing them out currently. All will be gone within 2 years as it is. There is no reason to go to bankruptcy to dump them. The 200's are the newest in all of DCI, they would be transfered to park older 100/200's. The 900's aren't going anywhere. Delta would gladly add more if they could.
But they cannot....due to scope restrictions?? |

With 757/767's sitting in the desert since the economy tanked, and the DC9-30/40's(That's 32 aircraft) being retired this year it's going to be a while before any more RJs come to DCI land. |
Maybe they were dumb mainline pilots, and they really meant Mesa

If i had to guess, the saabs get returned, the -200s reassigned to someone else to dump -200s and the -900s given to another airline on a 1 for 1 swap with 50 seaters. Mesaba's time is limited
