Don't really believe it. But is slightly plausible.
Delta owns all the books and can cook them any way they please. They can make Comair, Compass, RHS, or Mesaba money-losers or money-makers with the stroke of a pen.

When Comair was up for sale, they were "making boatloads of money". Two months later, when the pilot contract was up for renegotiations, Comair was "bleeding millions". Only Delta knows the truth.

I don't think Delta wants to open up their books by filing Ch11 and letting everyone see how much XJ makes with negotiations starting next year.

As far as Delta filing for just XJ - How about they just file for the XJ airplanes they want to dump?

Wouldn't that be like Donald Trump having his left leg file bankruptcy, but don't touch that stuff over there cause it belongs to his right leg?

Delta would gladly add more if they could.

But they cannot....due to scope restrictions??

That's correct. The 70/76 seat RJ # has reached the cap, & no more are allowed until Mainline grows considerably. We have to return to 770-ish airplanes in the Mainline fleet, & then grow from there before they can add.

With 757/767's sitting in the desert since the economy tanked, and the DC9-30/40's(That's 32 aircraft) being retired this year it's going to be a while before any more RJs come to DCI land.

If i had to guess, the saabs get returned, the -200s reassigned to someone else to dump -200s and the -900s given to another airline on a 1 for 1 swap with 50 seaters. Mesaba's time is limited

Why would Delta want to desolve Mesaba? Guys on this forum been saying for years that Delta will desolve Comair, now it's Mesaba. I see no reason for Delta to desolve any of the wholly owned carriers.
