I can't figure out why people are foaming at the mouth to work at the sweatshop Colgan. Shame on you for wanting to join one of the biggest undercutters in the profession. I was furloughed and whipsawed out of my last regional job by Colgan, and I guess it just doesn't stop as long as Colgan has a stack of resumes on his desk with pilots just waiting to undercut others.

Hey buddy...to each his own...if you knew where I worked now...Colgan would be compared to like working for Cathay!..Colgan is just a stepping stone..get in..get your PIC time..and move on to better things..

What better things are you planning to move to? Gee look at all the majors hiring right now. If you go to Colgan you should plan to be there quite some time. Perhaps you are planning on moving up to Republic or GoJet.

Or perhaps he thinks outside the box and has corporate connects, he didn't say stepping stone to one particular part of the industry. FWIW he could be flying for Cathay after Colgan... anything is possible!

THESE AIRLINES ARE NO LONGER STEPPING STONES!!!!! STEPPING STONES SHOULD NOT INVOLVE PEOPLES LIVES! These are Airlines, and you will be an airline pilot, go somewhere thats going to treat you like one!

D@mn, Regionals have been downgraded from stepping stones to pebbles, I guess you just skip them on water until they sink...

If he was thinking outside the box he would be smart enough to investigate where he wants to work and know what the situation is. I doubt all of the current applicants to Colgan have plans other than the airline business. My point is anywhere you go could be your career airline.
Choose carefully. Commuters aka Regionals are no longer stepping stones.

Places like Colgan and others have become stepping stones to other stepping stones. Go to Colgan to get some 121 experience and then keep trying to get on with a more reputable regional. Then, if your are one of the lucky ones, move from there onto as major or national. :D

There is, and never will be, a shortage of pilots. Pay and benefits are going to continue to go down, age 65 will play no factor in that.

does anyone have anything new to add to the discussion? cause everything said on here has been discussed ad nauseum

Until people stop going to places like this and value their skills for what they are worth it has not been discussed enough. 121 flying carrying paying (unsuspecting) passengers is not an entry level position or a place to build basic flying skills and experience.

So true. That is why each of us should support HR 3371.
