Do you work in HR? That isnt sarcasm, I am just curious I am starting to think you might be down there for this hiring spring.

Wow, I am kicking myself. I reread the airline apps 'compare app' page. All it puts is a check in the box next to required. I technically do have a first class medical. It is just I have had it since Oct '09.

I guess I should have scrolled down and seen the words, "current first class medical." Surprised that would shoot me down for an interview, but that has got to be it. Guess it is too late now... :(

Guess what I am doing tomorrow!

Nope...just a regular line guy. I just know if you wanna get some where, you gotta have your sh!t squared away. If I were, I would be looking to see if an applicant has crossed every eye and dotted every tee. I've been in aviation nearly 20 years and in my previous aviation career, you had to be squared away. Paying attention to detail was a must or folks got hurt or killed. I carry that with me and always will ;)

There you go...you need a first class to pass the filter.

So, get a first class. Try to call HR or talk with your network to see if he can do something for you.

I think there is a glitch in the AirlineApps software regarding the medical due to the change in regs back in August 2008 regarding the 1st class medical.

I recently applied via Airline Apps and when I did the compare app function it made it appear as if I did not have a current first class medical. I am under 40 years old and my medical was issued in April 2010, making it valid as a first class medical.

AE seems to be an odd beast in regards to its HR in regards to who they do and don't interview. Being selective is a good thing but I feel they are inconsistent with some of their hiring practices that often times are too induced by policies created by non-pilots.

Just give it time eventually they wont be very selective.

I got hired with a medical 1.5 years out of date..this isn't a big deal..so long as you have a current 1st class on your first day of training.

I'm pretty sure mine was too. I got mine after I interviewed and everything was fine....

inability to follow instructions is high on the list for elimination as a rule
