the letter says we are overpaid and we will start shrinking as soon as American can diversify feed. good thing we are hiring so many pilots. but at least dan garton is optimistic about our prospects! my guess is this is the beginning of the end for eagle in its current form. i would expect when the dust settles down the road it will be a 1200-1500 pilot airline.

I think that if anything is announced that AE will continue to fly for AA for 5 year. Then 20% of the flying a year will be bid for for 5 years until its all gone.

Eagle pilots are paid fairly close overall to RAH,XJT,ASA etc arent they?

So what's the feeling here guys, I have an interview in a week, is this somewhere that i can be employed at for the next 10-20 years or am i going to get hired and fired in the next few years. i have a family to worry about here, i don't want to put their future at risk! I understand there is ALWAYS a certain amount of risk associated with working for an airline, but are you actually seeing the writing on the wall here or what?

As I said before, get in the boat ASAP, you never know what can happen the class after you. We still very short in staffing, so get in before is fully staffed or you have a chance of being furlough in the future. My though at this moment is "get in, do your time, get the experience. If something bad happen you already have the time to move on. If nothing happens, then stay here". My current expectation is to be here at least 7 years... AT LEAST. |

Thanks to the whole problem since 911, those CAs got stucked and didn't went to the mayors, doing Eagle as their career. Simple math,,, 15 yr capt - 10 year stuck for 911 and oil price = 5 year. (they where senior Fo or recently upgraded captain at that moment) This is my analysis, if I'm wrong someone correct me. |

Is not the new hire FO who's over paid. Are the CAs with 15 to 20 years in the company who get a lot of money (compared with other regionals).

Won't some of these captains flow through to AA? If you guys see some strong attrition, AA movement for some of them as well, and over the next few years general industry movement, maybe that will help out. Also all this talk of a grim future might get some to move on.
When I interviewed, during my HR part, I asked what the view on AE being sold off/spun off was, and I was told that the talk around corporate was it is going to happen, but AA is not rushing into it. He said AMR wants to do it correctly. They want Eagle to do well, it still strongly will be seen as part of AMR by the general public. They also said it can be good for Eagle because Eagle can pickup outside flying. They told me that in the past Eagle had chances to pickup contracts with other airlines, but AMR saw this as direct conflict since they owned AE. He said it would have been done 07 but then fuel prices spiked, and spinning off/selling AE was not on the radar, and that AE actually makes money for AMR. He said he saw it as most likely working out for the better, and this was a line captain, who was working in HR, and spending all his time around corporate. Not sure how much that means, but he saw it as a positive thing. He also was trying to hire people FWIW. |
