That was the first group. After more AA recalls, there's a second group of 250ish. When AA starts hiring from street, there's 824 more pilots that have "preferential hiring". Meaning that from every one they hire from street one Eagle go to AA.

What most folks need to realize is, this is an entry level job. No matter how much I disagree with the FO payscale, no matter how you look at it, most folks here come from flying as a CFI, etc as I did when I started. It is not uncommon in most jobs to start at a low pay grade. It's not only aviation. For example, in science, most post Doctorial candiates make less than an FO, and may only make it to a low 5 digit income in a career with a PH.D. So were not alone. So we don't have it that bad with a pay increase yearly on both sides CA, and FO. If you go from a CA pay scale at a regional to a major your first year, that is a 50% pay cut. It's just how it works in this business. You can go on and on, but I don't think anything is going to change at the regional level, with the carrot of eventualy you may make make it else where in the future. But those years as an FO can be a struggle depending on your situation. If you're gonna start at a regional, don't do with with 5 kids and a stay at home Mom. Further more, don't complain if that is the decision you make. It's no ones fault but your own. I've flown with plenty of people in that position, and it makes me wonder in this day in age with all the pay scales so easy to find on such forums as this, that it doesn't go in to your decsion? Get hired somewhere, live below your means, and it will get better with time. Or say screw it and play the lottery?

I've never met a post-doc making less than $40k...It's kind of sad that most regional FO's would jump at any carrier paying 40k first year.

It's their guesstimate of if you'll pass training and/or how many tries it will take you (NN = 2 failures). Based on your prior training and probie line evals.

Yeah, I got my info from someone who works in science, specifically research. If you have an MD/PH.D, you will be making some coin, but specifically research, not so much. But most of them do it because they enjoy the work. Hmm sounds like pilots?

And they are probably criticized MORE than pilots (though not quite as publicly), yet paid the same.... Cant say id ever want that job... yuck...

Looks like ill be in the July 4th class. From the sounds of it there is going to be about 40 people there!
