Add in perdium and line average of 80 hrs and he is easily over 6 figures flying a little RJ. Of course this is for now, until we pass the TA. And didn't we just have a conversation about calling people idiot.

If I will be based in Dfw next year, do I bid for a Dfw vacation slot? Or do they only accept it if it's your current base?

Well up till now, I had not answered you, so you were talking to yourself. But got it, however I think he is being sarcastic. There is no reason that an RJ captain should make this much, it should drop to 80k max if flown at guarantee for the year. It hurts everyone for people to stay at this job, and want bigger planes. These high paid captains will be the first one to say they hope to retire on a 100 seat jet.
Wow...just wow. |

These high paid captains will be the first one to say they hope to retire on a 100 seat jet. Second, most of the 100K+ captains I know (other than the guys with less than ten years to go until retirement) have no desire to simply retire on a 100 seat jet. Most I know (myself included) are taking the huge paycut (like 70k) to move on to a mainline, be it to AA via the flow (that would be me, one of the numbered pilots), or to any other airline via the usual off the street hiring process. |

Two things. First, there is EVERY reason why an RJ captain should make 100K+ per year. Every business man will tell you that you are worth what people are willing to pay you. No more, no less. It's all about negotiations, either singly or as a group. That's just the way it is. Can we continue to make that kind of money? Who knows. Maybe not. But, worth it? Yes.

You've got two choices with them........go to AA when your number comes up or stay and fly for peanuts. Either way it's obvious......you'll be expected to get out of their way. It's truly sad what's happened to Eagle in just a few short months. |
