Doubt it?! That's funny because when I did the jet transition course in 2008 and didn't make it to class because it was cancelled I got a nice little $xx,xxx misc 1099 from AE for the course they sent me to. Nothing is free my friend. It was like, Suprise! Least I didn't have to pay for it myself.

I'd be mildly surprised if this is actually the case for the Jet Transition guys that get hired and work here.
Have any of you guys that work here who went through the transition course been sent that 1099 for it? I'm really curious about this now.

So now because of the crapy TA, they won't spin Eagle off till next year. The TA has nothing to do with the spin off, it has all to do with a possible sale of Eagle. We don't need the TA to be spun off but we need it for a sale because our contract would trigger section six if we are to be sold.

Any and all cost of doing the transition course including food .,the course and associated expenses are tax deductable .The tax due for the course wil be offset greatly if you can itemize. As a matter of fact all your training cost to improve your aviation career are deductible .
Should take the sting out of any tax due for the course but if your income us low I doubt any tax would be due at all.

Ok thanks for all the info, i wish they would tell you ahead of time. I would have never thought about having to pay taxes on something like that. Im glad I come on these forums. How much did you have to pay? Is it based on sales tax in Florida? (course is in Jacksonville)
The cash for clunkers program comes to mind.
