Normally I wouldn't read too much into the rumor mill but with the recent WARN letters for all ATR pilots in DFW comes the realization that this man may be right.
Has anyone else heard anything about this? AMR kept claiming that "other" carriers could repace our flying and some had already expressed interest. This was misleading. In reality, there was/is nobody who could replace our flying on the jet side. But, our prop flying is repalceable. By who, I never found out but pretty much guessed Colgan and/or Commutair. This could be what they are looking in to. |
I heard second hand that AMR was looking to aquire Q400s to replace the ATRs, but nothing about another carrier flying them... Who knows...

I thought the ATRs were specific to the APA scope clause- by tail number. Unless something changes with APA (not saying it won't, but until then) Q400s aren't an option.

Scope is going out the window APA's best bet is to try and cap it at 70 seats.

How full are the ATR flights in DFW and the Caribbean?

That's a long flight in a turboprob between Dallas and the Caribbean. Why wouldn't you use a jet for that? |

I don't even think colgan or commutair can find enough pilots for what they have now. I've heard attrition is high at commutair as well. |
