all I know is Eagle is fat well over 100 pilots, on the line now, and has been, with more coming down the pipeline. For a bankrupt company, it is very unclear to me why we havent furloughed, stopped classes/ioe, or offered even short term leaves. We have the entire ATR base in Dallas getting a paid month off in March.

 

They did stop classes/furlough 20 pilots. The reason they did not stop the entire pipeline, as it was explained by NA from the training department, was the sim time had already been purchased. Might as well use it.

Your post makes you seem somewhat eager for us to put some of our fellow pilots on the street...

 

We will see what happens when the rest of the ATRs are parked. Of furloughs don't come then, they have other plans. The jets picked up most of the slack in Dallas.

 

I dont want anyone on the street, I just do not understand the logic going on? You would think they would jump at some kind of leaves? Also the 20 guys seems more like politics to me....

 

This is not entirely true, almost 1/2 the base will be in training by next Monday and most before months end. There will be some guys lingering for a while linger but the bulk of DFW ATR have started training this month or will be starting in the next couple of days.

 

I couldn't agree with you more on this, just as the 400 pilots at AA! It was pure politics. They could have pulled the plug as soon as they filled but waited until they had a seniority number.

 

ALPA at Eagle keeps hiding behind new confidentiality agreements (even from their own pilots). It seems clear to me they plan to assist AMR in any way possible. Unlike the DAL pilots, AA pilots are also battling against an extremely willing conspirator (ALPA/Eagle) who seems all too eager to assist AMR in their effort to crush the APA and AA pilots.

 

This doesn't make sense because those training slots, SIM time can be utilized for displaced pilots, instead AMR has choose to train new hires while part of the DFW ATR base sits at home and gets their class date pushed back for SIM time, that happen last Monday, some guys training was adjusted because of lack of SIM tim so this sounds like BS to me! Now, don't get me wrong I am not complaining about this, the more guys we can keep employed (and below me) the better but the excuse about SIM time being purchased doesn't chive with me specially if they had reserved the slots and wouldn't need the any more they could reject the contract in CH 11. Now if they paid already that's a different story but again those SIM times could still be used for displaced line pilots not new hires.

 

This is another reason why when you talk to some AA line pilots they wouldn't mind seeing a C scale with Eagle guys flying the aircraft, I have sat in multiple Jumpseats the last few weeks and most of those guys say merge the companies, combine the lists because they see the writing on the wall. They know that if they allow SCOPE out the window the will loose a lot of jobs like they have in the past 15 years. They know that allowing the code share will kill them as well. Most of the guys have less than 10 years flying under 121, by stapling the list below them they give themselves a little bit of room and with fences they won't feel a difference. Now management won't allow this because it will eliminate what you mention above. And yes I am an Eagle pilot who is in his late 20's and being stapled to the button of the AA list would be a wet dream for me, but that is not where I intended to go with this comment. I am not one that wants larger RJ at Eagle, I want the jobs at AA because someday I would like to have a mainline job. But back on subject, I believe APA has to keep their fiends close and their enemies closer and I agree with you on the whole Eagle Union willing to do whatever it has to and there is nothing the line pilots can do when the majority of us pilots are willing to just sit and ride it out. I don't know much about unions and only have a handful of years of experience in this industry but don't agree with what our union is doing.

 

The last new hire class was sometimes in November so I think anyone in that class is done with the sims anyways. I agree the sims could have been better used but back then, I dont think the training department had any better clue as to what was going on than we had.
