It means you end up being the next "lifer" at Eagle without any decent company that would hire you. Unfortunately in your case, there won't be anything to suck dry as you will have poured it on the ground already.

Enjoy your "career" son.
You do realize you're the generation that negotiated and agreed to the rates that rewarded yourselves at the expense of up and coming pilots right? I was born into the situation that your generation created.

The legacy unions wouldn't sell out their future members with the low rates but the regional young turks at the time (you) decided, "let's bring the jets here and give the company the cost advantage to fly them here at the expense of new hires.

Remember when Eagle was having trouble hiring a couple years back? The company wanted to give newhires a sign on bonus and a retention bonus after the first year. Senior captains here wouldn't sign on unless there was some monetary gain for themselves.

Remember senior captains at Eagle demanding exit bonus or second year pay at AA.

Your generation is truly the entitlement generation while putting blame on everyone else.

*Absolutely amazing......stunning actually (well, actually not). Eagle WAS a "career" carrier where one could stay and make a decent living with a decent QWL. $100-120,000/year once you paid your dues and thus many have. Now guys like you are actually angry it's impeded your desire to make it an upgrade puppy mill to get somewhere else, thus turning the place to crap.*I'm SOOOOOOO glad I left. *

*No that decision wasn't made by the pilots, my little turk. Not a single pilot at Eagle was allowed to vote on any such issue. Look to the unions who dropped the ball there furthering the "us and them" mentality.*

*Wrong again. Look to your ALPA leadership for any such decision and BTW, those guys were all in the middle of the seniority range for the most part. The logic there was, since most of them were junior captains or senior F/O's they wanted to ensure any improvements were across the board and NOT simply something to help the company oot of the jam it created for itself by being unable to attract pilots.*

*Many preferred to stay and how could you blame them ?*In their 40's and 50's with kids in college, many simply couldn't leave Eagle just to help the company out of...........yep, another jam they created for themselves. Of course, it does anger the young turks dreaming for the upgrade puppy mill environment so THEY can get theirs and split.*Not a sinlge pilot wanting asking for those got it either.*

*I think you've got it backwards. THAT generation was greatful to get the right seat of a metroliner or BE-99 with 2500 hours in their pockets along with 500 multi survivng late-night fleabag freight operators. The new Ritilan-fueled young turks are enraged they're not hired with 500 total time and 25 hours multi and aren't captain on a 70-seat jet airliner at the age of 27 with 3000 hours.*Thanks dog, you've definately made my day. I'll be laughing on and off till dinnertime.

I agree with that statement for the most part. There still are some good guys of the young generation, too, let's not forget that either.

However, I think the 2005-2007 boom reeeeeally knocked people's expectations out of calibration. Seeing folks go from 250/wet commercial (or there abouts) to senior FO or even Captain of a 121 turbo prop or RJ in about one year was insane! Couple that with this recent spat of hiring lower time pilots, many folks simply can NOT remember the days you just mentioned where a person had THOUSANDS of hours built upon CFI-ing and freight dawgin' before having a crack at the 'commuters.' I cannot forget the Face Book post of a guy complaining his ME Comm/Inst alone didn't automatically get him an airline job. Boo hoo. Get your CFI. Go fly divers, pipe line, etc..

As for the contract, the training "point" system does not apply to newbies either.
The LOA is being worked on as we speak, company does not want to offer it as is, they want to make some mods.
As for our future, a lot depends on what happens with AA.
They are gonna stay fat with pilots until they know our fleet plan and them there may or may not be furloughs, will just depend on the fleet and the schedule of replacements, etc.
I think it's a given the ATR's are all going away, but the timeframe is unknown. We still have scope issues to work out before that can be handed off to another carrier to assume
Anyone going into their proby ride needs to know that the point system doesn't apply. I know of two pilots who never had any problems get let go after busting their orals. They never even touched the sim. Eagle is overstaffed and they are finding ways to get rid of pilots before a furlough. Furloughs cost $$$$ so make sure you study and be on your A game.

Couldn't agree more. This horrible, god awful cycle will just continue for eternity. We as pilots will always be our own worst enemy.

With all this talk of 170/175s coming here, or talks of airbuses (god help us all)...

...I can't help but say that anyone who thinks bigger planes at Eagle is a good thing...is an idiot.

And no, I won't take it back.

The FO wages at all regional airlines are so pathetic it's enraging. Senior folks at any airline don't seem to care because why? Well because "they got theirs."

Since I'll never be a captain at any airline i'll never be an individual who could use their experience in whatever organization happens to represent its pilots in helping to end this madness.

Remember in 2007 when AEALPA said no to an increase in 1st year FO pay because the company was "manipulating pay outside of negotiations"? (or some other simliar sounding garbage reason.)

That former MEC chair, at that point, had lost all touch with the reality of what it was like to "live" on 25k a year.

Much like the union heads in the early 90s who said no to RJs at mainline.

Much like the current generation of lawmakers that are gutting education, somehow not understanding that you are destroying any future American children might have in a very competitive world.

Cutting off the nose, despite the face is the running theme.

I'm gonna call BS on this one.

Don't worry, probies. If you are squeaky clean going into your probation ride, they won't fire you just for a busted oral. I'm sure the above mentioned guys had other issues that raised flags, i.e. douches, bad attitudes, bad probation reports from captains, maybe a heated argument with the examiner after the bust.

Take your job seriously, study, have a good attitude (even after a bust). You will do just fine. There are plenty of guys that have busted probie rides and plenty of them are still here.

+1, I know of 4 people recently, 2 busted the oral, 1 busted the ride, and 1 had out of date jepps, all were sent home at that moment, and were paid training pay to sit at home for a month. All 4 went back, had dumb dumb training, and passed. Just make sure you avoid someone whose last name ticks with an A!
