Seriously, it is amazing how pilots have been twisted against themselves by management and SJS to the continued damage of the profession. I'm very happy I saw the writing and got out when I did. I cannot believe Rick went thru his Dad's EAL and UAL BKs and then, in a triumph of blindness and hope over truth and experience, started out in the regionals.

Don't get me wrong, I love aviation, I love the flying I do, I love following the industry that I am still close to, but I would HATE being in the airline business.

GF

Why then are you poking around on the regional forums? Do enjoy gloating how much better your life is because you're not an airline pilot?

I like flying, I enjoy it. I have also been addicted to it since I was a little kid, it was a no brainier for me. I even went to college for something outside aviation, and by my JR year knew it was what I wanted to do. I have no regrets.

I also went to Rutgers, and I really can not think of anyone I went to school with who is doing great. I am on track to pull in between 35-40k this year. That is not bad for being 25. I also get about 17 days off per month, have had as many as 20. If things go to crap at Eagle, they go to crap, people start over, my Dad did many times.

Not sure why you called me out, but I have no regrets. Like I said, my only other real choice would have been law school, which would have came with huge loans. Most my friends from college, finished and could not find any real jobs, so they went to Grad school, and now are 100k in debt, and still can not find any 'real' jobs.

Even my friend who is in law school, and works full time as a para legal in NYC makes about the same as me, and is scared there will be no job when he finishes besides his paralegal job. I can think of one girl who went for accounting that works at Metlife, commuting in/out of NY on the train everyday and I think she makes about 40k.

I got to move to FL, I live much cheaper than NJ, and I am fairly happy. It is why I hate coming on this site, and need to just remind myself why I stopped. 75% of the guys I fly with are happy, and do not come on this website.

Happy twenty year guy at AE WITH 17-19 days a month off and I'm home every night. Now that I think of it, I've always been happy. But that's just me I guess.

+1!
My favorite is when people tell you to get out, go become a doctor, or a lawyer. Yeah you may make a lot of money eventually, but many of those guys aren't happy either. Not to mention the stress of malpractice and all that other jazz associated with the job. Also, heavy workloads may not even give you much home time. All in all, it's all what the person makes of it. Might as well do something you enjoy.

I know an OBGY, she works nonstop, when on call, she sometimes work 40 hours straight when there is a rush of babies being born. She is 35 and makes like 300,000$/year. However if she wanted to be home 18 days/month, she would not make much over 100k.

Why I'm here should be obvious from my earlier post--I love aviation; am in a manner of speaking connected to the industry and APC is a pretty good forum to understand the pilot's view of the industry, as the major forum is for the majors. I was once just like everyone here--short of flying and frustrated how to fix it. It is good to hear how a new generation is dealing with it.

I've reviewed hundreds of RJ pilot resumes and interviewed some RJ pilots; this forum does help understand their backgrounds, their frustrations and aspirations.

its more than a rumor that more than a few people have been talking at work they know who the baby kangaroos real identity is.

It would be very wise if he reviewed the companies social media policy and takes a long break from this website.
