I was based in DFW my last 15 years with eagle (ORD the first six, and a four month MIA TDY in there as well). I've never understood the DFW hate. Every base has it's "social retards".
Your $$ will go a lot farther in the Metromess than anywhere else you can be based. Believe it or not, there is stuff to do here. Heck, they even have both kinds of music, country and western.
Once, my FO got re-assigned during a long sit in ORD. I was paired with a brand new FO on the CRJ, second trip out of IOE. He gave me a speech "Oh, you are one of THOSE GUYS (DFW based), don't worry, I'll keep you out of trouble, and show you how we do it here in ORD." Ya, thanks there buddy, I was totally clueless before you showed up..

1. I am not a mainstream Republican.-Nor am I
2. I dont get whats so exciting about Texas.-We can carry guns, and get to own machine guns, and suppressors.
3.I am not scared 24/7 that we are about to get violated, have to double check half the radio calls, or get worried and just check in just in case when told to monitor a frequency.-Never worried about that either.
4. I enjoy a little bit of chat during a flight.-As do I.
5. I think its rude when giving the plane to a crew at an out station to write something up, when its a 30 minute turn, esp something small, like static in the headset jack. I am sure they loved waiting 3 hours for MX to drive in from their house at 7pm on a Sunday night.-Compliance with the FAR's, and company procedures should be universal, I don't care where you are based.

I'm from Chi town, moved years ago when I got based in dfw on SF3. I'd never move back to IL worthless. Other than Chicago, IL is a worthless place to live. Cold, taxes, and wait you pay .30, 50 cents more for the same gasoline I put in my car in TX. Yeah I miss my Chicago food, dogs, pizza, beef, but I prefer Tx BBQ any day. And we're not all douches in DFw, always the minority in any domicile. I get my ORD fix every few months, but at least my sked is always intact, and I get off of work onetime, every week. To each is their own.

...Cross the threshhold at 50ft, Vref, go to idle power and crash land on the 1000' mark, as per AOM Vol 1, and then file an ASAP report for going below glideslope, and then write the plane up for a hard landing. Thats pretty much par for the course with a DFW CA. I'm with you Wingtips

Yeah, and all the while telling me when I'm a CA I'll understand why it's that way? Guess what...after 5+ years here I have a long way to go until upgrade so I guess they'll have to deal with me a bit longer

Have fun, don't bend any metal, and don't get violated. Beyond that, it's all good.
