Nope that was unfortunately Mesaba (the same union now asking its members to reduce the payraise due 900 captains in December to be given to all the FO's instead)

Then sign an industry-leading contract for pay and work rules.

Then watch as your major partner shrinks, dismantles, and gives away your organization to the lowest bidders. Watch 6 other regionals come in to work your hub while you furlough hundreds and park half your fleet.

In the future? That depends on who wants to be the next Comair.
Welcome to the ME ME ME generations and deregulaton coupled to the railway labour act. About the most lopsided negotiating field possible.

Right now pilots are overpaid!

Why? Because there are more pilots looking for work than there are jobs. Demand for labor is low and supply of labor is high. The result is wages can decrease and airlines can still staff their flights.

The best hope for regional pilots is the 1500 hour total time bill passes congress. I'd expect to see some a slight rise in pay at the lower end of the spectrum (1st and 2nd year FO pay at regionals) due to the new law in a few years when the economy recovers. Without the law, I'd say $22 an hour is too high!

Plan for higher payscales?

Yes. Right now Mesa, Trans States, Comair, Republic, Pinnicle, Skywest and GOJets are in intense talks for higher pilot payscales. Yes, this is the plan.

If you believe this, then please PM me for a great deal on Confederate money.

The glut of pilots that has always existed would be evidence to the contrary. For the most part a trained monkey can do what we do but unfortunately most pilots have the same mentality of said monkey......quite literally will fly for food.

Very true statement. I've said this over and over again. There is no shortage. With over 10,000 furloughed 121 pilots on the street right now, the only shortage will be pilots who will work for $17,000/year.

This was the case @ Comair in 2008 as well. I remember getting into a argument with a union official over this.

His line of reasoning "If there is money to go around why should just the new hires get it."

So all you people need to stop blaming your company for everything. Eagle tried to raise pay for new hires as well as second year FOs. Senior capts wouldn't have it. Like I've said, your union creates the payscale, not the company. They just tell the union how much they're willing to spend on the pilot group overall, the union slices the pie.

Rather than buy a second home, I have decided to instead buy 21 crappy crash pads.
