UA/CO merger effect on regionals
#71
It's not going to be any different than what Delta did, as far as regional scope. Might be a merger or two with a flow through in exchange for furlough protection for United pilots. I predict mass downsizing and mergers at the regionals the next couple of years, 50 seat ops are dead the next round of contract renewals. Buying up majors and 100 seat jets is the new frontier if regionals want to remain competitive. United wants nothing more than regionals replacing their 100 seat domestic market.
The pressrelase today said that most of the growth for this new airline will be on the regional level and with 70 seaters. I really hope skywest pushes hard for this flying and i think we are entitled to it with all the money and jobs we've given to united and their furloughed pilots.

Can you say Q-400? Just stand back and watch boys, your going to see Q-400's popping up everywhere over the next few years. And it makes perfect sense. Its a true regional aircraft and its not flying mainline routes, can't complain.

Who's ever able to fly the Q400 will win big with this merger, there's going to be fierce bidding wars. Even by jet operators.

I agree, united just got about 200 more obsolete 50 seaters and I doubt they want to keep them.

Another entitlement attitude from a minor league player.
This is a perfect example of why you mainline guys do not need to give up on any more scope.

Your right about the wages. That should change for the better with the impending contract at Colgan and we should see improvements in the coming months/ years as things progress. Of course this is just my opinion. I dont think anyone really knows what the future holds.

You sound just like a SKW jumpseater we had a while back, one that got hired at SKW from ERAU, with massive student loan debt.
