Nose gear up in DFW also. When mx jacked the airplane up, the gear worked. When I worked there, I had the same problem. We just waited a while and cycled it about every 5 minutes. It came down after about the 5th or 6th try as I remember. Since the one in DFW actually worked after the fact, it seems like the cold soak or something from being at altitude is causing problems. If you have the time, wx, and fuel, nothing in the qrh says you have a limit to the number of attempts you make to cycle the gear before trying the alternate. Good job to the guys getting everyone there safely, that's what is important.

In that CBS video, the pax cr@p on the FA. She was a very senior FA, prob had pretty good luck until now. The CA, I fly with once a month - hands down best pilot skills. He's always hand flying every approach and he's a great guy! Hopefully, this is an open and shut case and the FAA chills instead of going after his job.

Well.... assuming that the FAA won't muck it up in some way doesn't appear to me to be a big stretch.
Plus, we don't know if the guy's medical, certificate, etc were on his person, do we? Or that he didn't swig down a pint of Jack Daniels enroute to ONT.
Or that he's not hung over with some controlled substance in his blood. Or he was medically unfit (cold, etc). Or on over the counter, non-prescription, yet still disqualifying drugs.
Lot's of possibilities. Heard that a Jet Blue FO was having some issues with his girlfriend recently...........

Sure. They listen to the CVR and when one of them says, "nice day outside." while they are below 10,000ft the FAA then says "Sterile cockpit violation!!" and tries to bust them. Don't think the crew prior to them (within the 2 hour recording time) is safe either. This has happened. Recently.

I have heard that SKW management listens to to the CVR periodically (pilots don't have a contract prohibiting it). But even then, I don't think they are allowed to use it for disciplinary action.
