I just heard some people saying they're talking about setting up a hiring committee ASAP now, so who knows? I guess if you want to work here, keep checking.

It's my understanding that the execution of recalling all furloughed pilots did not even take into account the potential reduction of 40 pilots who will be venturing over to Vietnam for peanuts.

That said, when the first wave of those guys depart here in the fall (only a few months away), expect some hiring to take place (20-30).

I honestly would not be surprised if there is one or two classes taking place around the Thanksgiving time frame.

I'm not sure what the fall and winter schedule will be like but we seem to be REALLY thin on pilots right now.

And every one of those forty will eventually be replaced with $23/hr new hires.

I want to be Jerry Atkins in my next life. He makes it look too easy.

Oh okay, last company e-mail I saw indicated September would be the first departure of 20.

Scott said directly to me mid aug. And a guy I know going is leaving in 2 weeks. So maybe not all of them, but they certainly start in mid Aug.

Gotcha.

Yeah, think last e-mail I saw indicated 20 the first half of September and then the next 20 after 15 Sept.

Everyone going to Mekong Air retains their spot on the ASA seniority list. They are on LOA and will return after their 11 month commitment. So they're not being replaced. I know you're upset by this Mekong thing lowering the bar for expat jobs (and I agree it's crap), but try not to take it out on all ASA pilots. Especially since you're a Moderator.
