You guys at asa have had it pretty good over the past few weeks but you'll learn that Skywest most of time is an almost had airline. We "Almost had" flying for southwest. We "Almost had" more flying for ual. We "Almost had" new airplanes. I get more worried every day that skywest is just ok to sit on their 900 million and watch the world go by while other airlines are out there being aggressive. Those 50 seat contracts will run out soon and it feels like they havn't done anything to figure out what to do with them.
Skywest could have pruchased both those airlines for twice those prices and it wouldn't have been a big deal for them. I don't know how they let that slip between their fingers.

I highly doubt anything "slipp[ed] between their fingers." SkyWest's leaders are highly skilled businessmen, and they clearly found the price too high for their ROI goals. Compass would have been nice to pick up, but the price was just too high. Mesaba, on the other hand... well, do you really want them on property?
