I'm betting they merge with Republic to become the Super-duper-double-top-secret regional!!

I listened to our quarterly conference call and I didn't hear intentions to merge with anyone soon. Just the usual,"We're always looking at options." I heard an aggressive plan to get ASA merged with XJT in 12 months and I doubt Inc. would have the time or resources to try and merge with or buy another regional within the next couple of years. I would expect more of the same from Skywest Airlines.

That's a lot of manpower to just end up with all the sudden. Has there been any talk about what SKYW was offered when they bought XJT? They had to have been offered something. That's a lot of UAL/CAL flying and if history means anything CAL doesn't want all of their eggs in one basket.

On a side note looks like UAL came out pretty good. I know they had a chunk of XJT stock that almost tripled from it's low.

I don't know why you think that, both JA and CC have openly admitted recently that they would like to get Mesa. I say they definitely have the time and resources.
Here is the possible formula I see for the future:

Skywest = (ASA + XJT) + (Skywest + Mesa + Comair)

During the earnings call management said that one of the attractions of ExpressJet is that it isn't a "fixer-upper." Given ExpressJet's precarious financial state, SkyWest isn't worried about that. And even post-bankruptcy Mesa is still will be a definite "fixer-upper." My understanding is that SkyWest Inc. is only interested in acquiring assets and not another pilot group, at least for merging into SkyWest Airlines.

As if the pilots are to blame for Mesa being a "fixer upper."

I just got recalled to Comair. I don't think I could take another layoff/furlough if they did that. Especially in less than a few months of being back.
