Colgan SF-340 in the Dirt @ IAD

You guys want to make this about who has the longest johnson and I want to make this about creating mainline jobs at the regional. If you spend years at colgan wouldn't you like to have that time applied toward your seniority at the mainline carrier? As it is now when you leave that company for a another you bring zero longevity to the party.
Good luck.
L
Sure, I want the mainline contract, but the reality is for the last 40 years, the mainlines (for whatever reason) don't do trunk flying. It was the mainlines that started the code share crap too. Go back to 1967 and blame Allegheny Airlines (now USAir) for starting the "partnership" craze with Henson Airlines (aka Allegheny Commuter, then Crown Airways, now part of Mesa).
The puddle jumpers were always there. But the mainlines never wanted them.
I didn't cause that.
I cannot change that.
No one at Colgan or any regional can change that: the tail can't wag the dog.
Who does that leave? hmmm
But go on and blame us.

I hate to burst your bubble about putting the "less-experienced" pilot in the 340 with this ab-intitio deal, but there are probably some mainline pilots that have NEVER landed an airplane on a runway that is less than 6000', at an uncontrolled field or really had to deal with the kind of conditions that us "bush-league" 340 pilots do. Not a battle of egos for with this issue, I am merely stating the facts. In fact, some of these mainline guys with A LOT of experience have later struggled when going back to King Airs, old-school Citations and the like, because they just can't think outside the narrow box of mainline carrier mentality...So, flame away oh gods of the "big jets".
Umm you might have a few mainline guys say well you have never landed a jet on a runway that moves up and down and less than 1000 ft long either..Just saying

I will not even begin to compare flying in harms way to flying an airliner. But after having served in that environment, from my observations, those folks are not too keen on flying a typical TP schedule. Nor were they willing to force their buddies, who got out after them, to fly those crappy lines. And that is probably why years ago, our forefathers let the puddle jumping go.

Yep. And those military guys (whom I, as a prior service member, have great respect for) generally haven't had to fly a 26 leg four day.

No, but I have landed on the back-end of Frigates, Cruisers and Destroyers with the ship pitching and rolling 10/10, so what is your point? That is apples and oranges. I am not talking about military flying careers.

(No offense to the pilots volunteering for ALPA, I think they're all great people)

Axial Flow, Beagle... you guys really need to get a clue because you clearly have no idea how union representation works. Especially considering your current carrier does not have a CBA under which your reps can represent anyone! I have heard one of your reps compare it to - "representing a driver who received a speeding ticket, where the speed limit is not posted." Think before you post, because you look like clowns.
Good day.
