6 on then 1 or 2 off before another few days is hell...especially for commuters. I 've done 6 on 1 off then 5 on and didn't commute home for the one day and let me tell you...it sucked!

I'm on a 6 day right now for Skyw. PBS assigned a 5 day at the end of Oct and in the Nov bid added a local to the first day of the month - I bid to 1/3d in Den but we are too short fo's. I'm going home for one night and commuting back in for the local.

Indeed they do, as well as the ACMI carriers that do 17-19 straight. But this thread is in the "regional" section.

Unlike an "international" or ACMI carrier, a "regional" will have you work EVERY day of the 6-12 duty days. Often times at max duty days with minimum efficiency. Making your "rest" periods all but useless as you may not have much down time relax and refocus on your job.

Or conversely, long "rest" periods in crappy hotel locations that offer NONE of the amenities/attractions that the layovers of "international"/ACMI carriers do.

Not to mention a 12 day on the 747 or 777 will typically be all you need to do for the entire month. At the regional level you'll get to work 12 of 13 and still have another 9 days of work to go for the month....

This is great advice. Use them judiciously, though, some places you can only call in X amount of times and then, Blam! On the street. I save mine for commuting usually, or big events, like my own wedding.
