Alright ALPA get me my contract, and take care of my grievances, and put out all the fires you deal with all day every day, and oh yeah you need to fly 90 hours a month like the rest of us.

Frickin brilliant.

I take it you work for Mesaba? How does the buyout work there? Do all the reps have full time buy out?

Our reps aren't even allowed to drop trips or get bought off, a lot of times, and apparently the MEC chair is the only one...

word on the street is he bid CRJ900 CA and has been getting that rate without ever having stepped foot in the aircraft or completed qualification. It's all just nasty rumor but if so, is it kosher?

Our contract I believe only allows the buyout of 2 individuals.

The XJ MEC chairman is current on the 900.

Hopefully they will fix the buyout situation with a new contract, but the 9E MEC chair is in an extraordinary circumstance trying to get a contract that has been ammendable for so long.

Hard to pass judgement on someone voted into a position by his peers and trying to better their lives.

I give my thanks to any and all ALPA reps of the time they sacrifice, because I sure can't do it.

This thread is a bunch of crap!!!!! I would like to see anyone try to balance flying (90 hours), union, family, and anything else that get thrown your way. Come on guys...I know your tired of the politics, but don't attack the guys that are working hard for us...that does not give them any motivation to go bat for us for a new contract...all it does is wear them down, in a process that is already grueling. For example, if your a coach and your team is getting hammered...you don't call out their weaknesses (if any), you pick them up and stand behind them as support. PNCL would love to see us divided...just look at Delta...2 union votes knocked down after all that hoopla. Delta divided...Delta likey Division....Keep it together ladies and gents...stand strong and proud...and support your union reps.

Rant Over....

Side note...I heard "America America" in my head as I wrote this post...LOL

I don't work for 9E, but I saw this sort of thing at another airline. To answer your question: Hell No. He's needs to fly the line...in fact he has a lot of catching up to do. Vote to send him back to the line full time.

If the guy is a medical hold or something, then he had better be very, very effective as an MEC.

Oh I'm most definitely not knocking the current MEC Chair. I believe he has done a fine job. The behind the scenes "900 pay/no flying" thing was started by an ex-MEC member with an axe to grind (PC), probably the sender of the infamous unsolicited e-mail to union members e-mail addresses with no signature...

The bottom line is that communication is worse than poor. It's pathetic. The 15th has passed, and all we got was a forwarded e-mail from some other pilots about an LEC update... nothing from this JNC, or from the MEC...

Again - I have no complaints as to the actions or direction my union is taking; what I take huge issue with is being in the dark as much from the union as we are from the company.

Heck, let me write e-mails to the pilot group.... I obviously have time, I'm sitting here right now!

Nope!

He was NOT voted in, he was appointed as vice president by the president of the mec himself. Then he traded positions with the president. Then shortly after that he fired the vice president through a recall that union members were not even allowed to vote on, and appointed another vp......Messed up.

Nobody wants the union president to fly 90 hours a month! For starters, it would be nice if he was actually qualified on the 900, which is what his payrate is. He is our highest paid pilot and has never once actually flown a 900 and has not flown a 200 in YEARS.

So with all this free time, wouldn't you expect some progress? Wouldn't you expect a game plan? Wouldn't you atleast expect him to come to base ops and be there for a q and a session?

That's really not asking alot. There needs to be a change. Senior APD's have already asked for his resignation shortly after TA 1 failed miserably. He rejected their request and refused to resign. Because he led the union to a failed TA it was no suprise that people requested a resignation.

Until something changes, 9E's 11 year old contract will continue to lower the industry standard from all aspects

I firmly believe that the MEC Chairman (not President- that is only at National) should be current and qualified. I won't even argue because we agree on that point. As far as him remaining in the position would your mind be different if he was qualified? What do you feel should be done differently? Criticism is what makes the world go round.

First of all, I think his pay should be based on the aircraft he is qualified to fly, second it should be no more than 100 hours a month.

Frankly, for the **** poor communication, leadership and direction, I think he should get no pay and sent back to the line. We need a leader that is strong enough to tell us what we CAN do, not what we CAN'T do.

Our pilots are suffering. We've been used and abused by management for too long. Everyone is sick of being junior manned and extended on their days off. Tired of having these immature sick policies. Sick of working 15-16 hour days. Sick of having a reduced rest overnight of 8:00 hours scheduled in advance. Sick of not having our buddy passes honored per the CBA. Sick and tired of flying 95 hour lines with only 10 days off that are not commutable.

Years ago we were given propaganda from the union. It was books on how these bad to the bone union leaders were so strong and powerful, that some got thrown in jail! Not asking for any laws to be broken. But it's a complete opposite of what we have here, where he plays mr nice guy and cancels our picketing event. Makes you wonder does he even want a contract? Or would he rather get paid 120 hours a month at 900 payrates, and never even have to fly.

If he's not going to take charge and HAVE A PLAN to help make this job/profession as a whole better..... Then step aside.
