Pinnacle, Mesaba, Colgan TA

Let's take a look:
Assume a 9L CA currently on the 3-4 rate. His pay would be lower by 0.84, 1.82, 2.80, 3.53, 3.47, so over the life of the contract that is $11,214 minimum, flat guarantee (roughly 2000/year) or 3+%. That is pretty close to the 401k match for the same period.
I see Colgan as the kids eating dessert and they got pie and cake, and cupcakes and cookies and ice cream and they see XJ guys with the same ice cream he always had and say.. "but he got chocolate syrup!!!!"
Colgan guys are getting a huge boost in work rule protections, and they're saying... "but some Mesaba guys are gonna get paid more to fly the saab for awhile"....
Well lets say we all reject this deal... the Mesaba guys still have 90% of this stuff AND the better pay and the Colgan guys have almost nothing... Kinda sounds like cutting off your nose to spite your face to me...
I'm betting if the negotiating committee COULD have gotten Mesaba SAAB rates for everyone they WOULD have... so I take this as a signal they couldn't get them and didn't want to give XJ guys a paycut.

I would have had no problem giving the Mesaba Saab guys some kind of signing bonus (they did bring a bunch to the table). But it should be a one time thing. Five years from now, rather than the bonus being a distant memory, the lower scale will be just as insulting.
And just a thought, which pay scale do you think management will base future contracts on? Heck, I guess it doesn't matter since everyone will be flying the 900 or working for a mainline.

Hmmm, really?

Lower for a while? Lower for five years PLUS all the negotiation period after the contract ends.

Not to mention the fact that you will have the ability to bid several other pieces of equipment to rid yourself of this rate.
I don't agree with it but from my understanding this was a move that needed to be made at the 11th hour to strike a deal, and CJC still ends up with huge raises.

This is not a 9L rate. This is the new Mesaba rate. So yes they will use the rate in future negotiations. Let them use the rate, it's still well above industry average. That money was funneled elsewhere in the contract and the only reason there was a grandfather rate was because otherwise current Mesaba Saab pilots would have taken a paycut.

I'm not getting any raise if it makes you feel better.

Anyone(colgan, pinnacle, or mesaba) who has an opportunity to upgrade into a saab will be looking at lower salary than is currently in your future. That is not a win.

How familiar are you with the current Mesaba contract? The one that you would rather merge with. PBS solutions, vacation, and insurance are all areas I've been told are impoved in the JCBA from the current MSA.
Not to mention the biggest gain - eliminating the whipsaw.
