ASA DTW 700/900 Base Rumor
#12
They will announce this within a couple of weeks. They are looking at approximately 30Ish crews. They are waiting on final numbers from Delta and trying to get Delta to pay for the crew/ops space for us like they have in Mem. The vacancy bid is tied into kdet and that's the reason for the delay on that as well. Look for around 15 upgrades.
It will be interesting to see how junior/senior this ends up going.

90 would be better. We do roughly the same amount of flying in dtw as we do iad, so I would have assumed more than the 30 I was told about. Personally I hope its more than 30 and more like the 90 you heard. Whatever the case, they need to get some captains to the 70 asap. We are still way short on reserves.

I caught the sarcasm -- kind of where I was going with the "nice neighborhood" bit ... last time I flew into DET it was pretty much a ghetto, but there is an old "terminal" there ... things could have changed...

ASA's history of opening bases in the last 6 years is pretty poor. We did a TON of flying in CVG for years and never opened a base. Now we are doing a TON of flying in MEM, and we are not going to open a base. Now its DTW? We are always waiting on the "numbers from Delta" but nothing ever seems to happen.

Yea flying ATR/E120 trips on the 200 makes for some very very low credit pairings ABANDON SHIP!

The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence. The 700 pairings are terrible too. Naps are nearly gone and there isn't one overnight over 24 hours anymore. There are ton's of long sit's in crappy airports like OMA and MLI. I'm highly leaning towards bidding down to the 200 but like I said... about the greener grass.
